Manhunt 2 ( cert.18+)was banned in the UK in June 2007

The judge said: "I have taken into account the high public interest in the possibility of harm to children."

final result of the court case will be in Jan.08, but if the BBFC looses the case they will have to pay for the lost sales since Aug.07, I guess Rockstar has already lost the case IMHO

British censors have won the right to fight the UK release of video game Manhunt 2 in the High Court.

A judge accepted the British Board of Film Classification's argument that the game had been approved for release on a misinterpretation of the law.

anyone got a view on violent vid games  and there affect on children ?

and is any form of censorship right or wrong ,

personally I think it's morally right that  things should be censored if Children would be able to view it , but the internet isn't  censored in the free world  and I am easy on that , so I am applying  double standards there ,  :undecided:

Allthough manhunt 2 is an overhyped POS game (and yes i've played it, it blows), it is up to the parent to decide what's appropriate for a child to view, not the government.  If a violent video game should be banned, hardcore porn should suffer the same fate.  I bet more people would be screaming about the porn lol.

a parent is not always around or gives 2 shits  while the child is either on the internet or playing a violent vid game that he has borrowed from a "friend ", ,

and is not Porn ( whatever that is :evil6:....) a route to degradation of women , ? , OK we have a G/F or wife that we treasure dearly , but as soon as we are able we tune into porn  to turn us on , are we not leading a double life there ?

and what sort of example are we setting or Kids , don't do as I do, do as I say ?

OK , for me I don't dont  porn  , never  have , not because I am a prude , but because I ain't a spectator , what the other guy does is his business kind of thing ,

maybe I have been lucky all my G/f's have been flexible on that , :smitten:

but what worries me is, do violent Vid games harm the future development of children , I just think it,srange that you can't go to war , with all it's horrors till you are 18 y , but violence's is available at any time no matter how immature you may be ,

Hey Guys I don't know the answer to this , so I am asking .

Guess they better outlaw violence in movies too. Everyone say bye to your horror flicks and movies like Hostel, and Saw. Parents aren't always around when their child decides to watch a DVD they borrowed from a "Friend". Point being, if they start outlawing violence in video games, the next thing will be movies, then who knows what. Games have ratings just like movies so the parent knows which ones they want their children playing.

Keep in mind violence in a video game or movie is not even close to the real thing in war. And in the Gold old USA you can go a 17....

Violence will always be around no matter what people say or do, there is nothing no body can do to stop. But you can help keep kids away from it if you want too
