dlewis23 Posted January 21, 2008 CID Share Posted January 21, 2008 Does anyone here have his/her SmartBro Connection split between 2 PCs or more? What should i have? Router? or a Switch? A switch is almost the same thing as a router. Just get a regular router maybe a wireless one if you want to do that too.
cutehacker Posted January 21, 2008 Author CID Share Posted January 21, 2008 let me ask you something, what are their differences? we have here a low cost switch which costs 500 PHP and a wireless router that costs 2900 PHP. What are their major differences (except of course that the router is wireless lol)
carts Posted January 22, 2008 CID Share Posted January 22, 2008 dont use switch or hub in internet sharing with smart bro you cannot use internet simultaneously (pc's connected to hub or switch cannot access the internet at the same time) router is the best choice and hassle free.. buy edimax 4 port wired lan router i think its only 1k in the market.. its cheap and its effective. cutehacker Posted January 22, 2008 Author CID Share Posted January 22, 2008 Thanks, so the point is the hub or the switch cannot share internet connection. I'm confused with the switch/hub from router, can u please explain more about their differences? thanks.
silphead Posted January 22, 2008 CID Share Posted January 22, 2008 its better to buy a linksys router...... plug and play only...
Effulgence Posted January 24, 2008 CID Share Posted January 24, 2008 a router will do coz u need to clone your pc mac address to by pass port redirection. As you can see once your pc mac address changes you need to login again. So you have two pc's which means there are two mac address.
Yeung Posted February 16, 2008 CID Share Posted February 16, 2008 buy a switch for a measly 500 pesos and then use Wingate. That's what I'm using now, it saves me some money w/c are better off for better computer hardware. .
