ninjageek Posted February 22, 2008 CID Share Posted February 22, 2008 The ol lady turned on my computer. Got the blue screen of death. Said "checking consistincy of disk" and deleted a bunch of files. Lost my opera bookmarks as well. I just got home from work. This is all the info I got. Freaked her out lol. No biggie. I back up everything. If I was guessing. I would say I got a harddrive going bad. Your thoughts??
mudmanc4 Posted February 22, 2008 CID Share Posted February 22, 2008 So it's booting windows now, so, I would say there was malicious software, or simply a conflict in software somewhere, did you check the log .
Voltageman Posted February 22, 2008 CID Share Posted February 22, 2008 Goto Run/cmd and enter " chkdsk c: /f /r " (without quotes, and 'c' being your drive letter)... Select yes, and then reboot.. It will take a while, but should fix errors and locate bad sectors..

dlewis23 Posted February 22, 2008 CID Share Posted February 22, 2008 your drive is not failing. Its just something that can happen with any OS. Do what volt. said and also do a disk defrag.
