Guest The Man!! Beat This Posted September 20, 2003 CID Share Posted September 20, 2003 Yea Baby, 6411 Kbs 783 KB/Sec 114 times faster then a 56k modem. 1 Meg in 1 Second(Or Faster) Took a long time to perfect my cable connection, but the cable company is limiting everyone. I am in las vegas,nv and Cox was holding out. I am the fastest in town off a cable connection, and I have gotten letters from the cable company saying I have done something illegal. I told them it is just a little tweeking. The only modem that can handle this is Toshibas PCX 2200( Yes, the free one from best buy). I know you all think this isn't possible. My auth code is 2096166 My speed is 6411 Check it out, then e-mail me at [email protected]

Guest The Man Beat this Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 Whoa Nelly!!! Need more test Bandwidth..... You need to RE-TEST my friend, there is no way you scored that high, dont worry... This is most likely a server-side error, or somehow the test is in your browser cache... if you have this problem repeatedly please post in the FORUM under "HELP" for help ---- all scores over 8000 kbps are kicked out! Let me try another. Are we having fun yet!!!
Guest The Man Beat this Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 One more for all you lovers out there!!!!! Had to slow down my connection to get something other than Your too fast!! Need to cut and paste? Easy with this. :::Download Stats::: Connection is: 6271 kbps about 6 Mbit Download Speed is: 765 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2094066 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 112 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 1 second(s)
Guest The Man !! Beat this Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 Ok, to be honest with everyone my upload is not the fastest in the world. Need to cut and paste? Easy with this. :::Upload Stats::: Connection is: 248 kbps about 0 Mbit Upload Speed is: 30 Kb/sec Auth Code: 253721 (Validate at http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 7 times faster than 56K, you can upload 1MB in 34 second(s) I think due to my tweeking I may have sacraficed some upload speed. But, let's be honest, who really ever sends large files the other way. I would much rather receive my download at 7-8 Mbit then worry about the other people uploading from my computer. From the forum it looks like the most other than me is 4-5 Mbit. Keep up the good work on the site, and now I can test my upload speed.
Guest The Man !! Beat This Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 Had to let my modem cool down. Sure am glad I got the extra warrenty from Best buy. Here is another.... Guest The Man !! Beat This Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 It seems like I can only get 7mbit before I get this. I am going to try some other tests, With a little luck I can hit 8000kbps on the nose!
Guest The Man !! Beat This Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 Ok, Tried for the fastest, now to keep the cable company happy... If I unhook my modem and all cables I still get this speed. Need to cut and paste? I could get 10000kbs plus if I really push it. May need a new modem afterward, but it would be worth it!!!
CA3LE Posted September 21, 2003 CID Share Posted September 21, 2003 haha, naw that won't burn up your modem, that toshiba will max at 10 Mbit ~~ email me and let me know how you tweaked that. Tweak Freak88 Posted December 5, 2003 CID Share Posted December 5, 2003 alrighty, i just made a membership here, i got that comcast speed bump bout 2 months ago, good pings to the dns server, bout like 7ms, do you know if the bumped up the pro service it was like 3.5/384 before the speed bump, its like 100 month though, 5 static ips. i would go w/ WOW but they only allow so much transfer a month, i wonder if u pay them more they will take that off, there doin 4m/500k for 60 dollar, i just test my speeds as u see below, comcast decided to screw w/ the cable down the street and dropped my signal about -7db, fun fun fun later
CA3LE Posted December 6, 2003 CID Share Posted December 6, 2003 nope they won't take off the bandwidth limit.. but on the same token they aren't going to 'really' enforce it either. They set those limits to discourage bandwidth hogs.. and to have a reason to kick people that are drawing heavy bandwidth. They say they are going to do it... but they really don't have a true way to enforce it (yet) without totally suspending your account.. and if you go a few gigs over your quota they will never notice (this is how Cox of phoenix is by they way) ~~~ also when you are talking about a loss or a gain the correct term is dBmV not just dB () ... hehe, just messing with ya... well truely it's dBmV, but I am playin'' ahhhh ~~ well anyway signal loss in some cases can make your connection better... if they dropped the signal down the street and it is effecting you negitively though, you may be on a tap that is RIIIIIIGHT before the next amplifier tap-tap-tap-amp/tap-tap-tap-tap-amp/tap each tap (split) will drop the dBmV of your cable signal and the amps make that signal go great distances past that... (dBmV is in reference to dB [decibal] --- one millivolt across 75 ohms [coaxial cable is 75 ohms... well unless you got a fat kink in it ] just for those who read this and don't know) here is a little bit of over elaborite information... Say you have a line that has 44dB signal strength, and say for instance you are pushing that through 8 port taps (basically 7 two way splitters hooked all together makes an 8-port-tap [2-way...hooked to two more two-ways...hooked to 4 more two ways... makes an 8way]) now a 2 way splitter drop 3.5dBmV on each leg so on the 8 way tap you will lose 3.5+3.5+3.5 = 10.5dBmV -- since you are going through 3-2-way splitters to get to the final leg on the 8-way tap (draw it up and it may make more sense) now in a case like this ~~ the cable company would want to place an amp every third to fourth tap to compensate for this loss ~~ and also the loss of the length of the cable plant (which here in AZ is can be a huge problem because it gets so hot the coax in the ground and on the polls gets so hot and expands sooo much that we need to amp over miles-and-miles of cable that isn't there in the winter so we crank our amps up here in the summer ~ very funny how that works this is all on an extreamly basic scale... I could type for hours and go in depth but I know that already at this point you all have stopped reading ~~~~ ANYpoop! ~~ if you are the tap RIIIIIIGHT before the amp you may have a problem... and you might want to call Comcast out to check your signal quaility... but quantity of signal in ALOT of cases can 'cause more problems than you might think ~~ also the signal strength of data and digital should be in the negitive ~ it needs to be negitive on those QAM's ~~ See how much crap I remember from being a master tech ~~ all from a 22-year-old sales man
