If your on the 10 meg connection, that might be as close as our gonna get. But it never hurts to try if your bored or creative. Have you tried cable nut here?

Raising the voltage to bring you up to beyond 2.66GHz.

Btw you are seriously hurting with ram, should be the 1st concern, clearly is your problem.

Otherwise your download speed is 8+ times better than WB.

If your running XP 512mp ram is about minimum for it to run halfway good. I personally would use 1GB of ram. I have a XP machine that I up graded from 1GB to 2 GB and really didn't see that much difference in speed, but I did have a lot more in reserve.

Hi Coknuck, you are exactly right, at least get it up to 512, better to go to 1GB, beyond will determine why s/he considers it slow ?

No clue if asking about internet speed or machine performance.

Long ago my factory XP HP came with 256K and did see a major improvement going 512, not much with 1 GB.

But the new software programs have become much more demanding.

Btw always have used Win Bar, now using Stat Bar gives me my CPU usage, down/up speeds, so I know exactly my status.

Currently have 1451MB  free of 4 GB using Win 7 64-bit.

With a 32-bit system only 3.25MB is seen as max due to video card demanding its share.

Since the download test is text based it should show as your maximum speed. But once you start to do webpages with graphics, you will notice a slowdown in speed as the system with a small amount of ram keeps having to use the swap file. Which will be noticeable.

I had an old Pentium 4 with 640MB of ram. Text loaded quick, but graphics choked on the Motherboard and graphics card.

Wow, bro, what do you have running? i have 4bg ddr3 ram and 1gb dedicated (up to 2gb) geforce 230m in my laptop...and windows 7 64 bit, and i have 2.5gb free still while im running quite a few things. just curious why you only have 1.4gb free

Hi Ryan, not sure exactly, perhaps Photoshop with a few raw 8MB attempting to learn the program, IMs, my 2 other tech forums, likely Yahoo mail.

Now with only Yahoo e-mail open and this forum says 1502, remaining.

Basically wasn't concerned as only 1 MB is needed to continue at full speed before needing to swap over to the HD, which is 128GB solid state. Toshiba P305-S8837 lappy about 15 months old, Vista 64-bit upgrade to Win 7 64-bit.

Besides the accuracy of the bar report can be questionable, not sure what you used to measure.

The main concern is the OP limping around with 256MB in the new age.
