PakWaan Posted May 29, 2005 CID Share Posted May 29, 2005 Since the DW6000 is capped at 1mbps, how can this be right? I consistently show scores of 550-650 mbps using Firefox, but 2000-3000 using IE6. Is there an issue with the different Java platforms used by these two, since this is a java-based test? I used the large test file and repeated a few times after clearing cache and all temp files, etc. When downloading real-world files from websites, I get an average of 100-120 kbps - no where near this speed. :::.. xs1 Posted May 29, 2005 CID Share Posted May 29, 2005 Testmy 's tests arent java based at all..
PakWaan Posted May 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted May 29, 2005 Testmy 's tests arent java based at all.. Sorry, misinformation from another forum. At any rate, what would explain the huge discrepancy between 1. capped speed vs. the test, and 2. Firefox vs. IE?
php Posted May 29, 2005 CID Share Posted May 29, 2005 well... would you have happened to use the back button after the test? how about an internet accelerator?
PakWaan Posted May 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted May 29, 2005 No, no back button and no Internet accelerator. I have done this test many times, on different days, and consistently get 500-600 when using Firefox, and 1400-3000 when using IE. It makes no sense to me at all. If it were java-based, then maybe the difference between Sun Java and MS Java Virtual Machine might have something to do with it - but since it's not, I'm perplexed. Several people on the DirecWay forum on DSLReports have mentioned noticing the same difference.

php Posted June 1, 2005 CID Share Posted June 1, 2005 maybe because of the test size...you should use the larger or largest test...
