wyantm06 Posted July 20, 2005 CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 I'm getting a wireless router hooked up, so I can have my PS2 hooked up with my Cable connection. How does that work from the wireless router to my PS2???

pitbull481 Posted July 20, 2005 CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 just get a router and run it with an ethernet cable (much cheaper and better connection)
pitbull481 Posted July 20, 2005 CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 i bought my cables from this site: http://www.cat5ecableguy.com/cat6_patch_cables?b=
richcornucopia Posted July 20, 2005 CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 You can run some cat 5 from your router to your ps2 pretty cheaply. Or you can try and ask the RR Tech to do it and see what they would charge. Just what I was thinking pitbull
wyantm06 Posted July 20, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 Well they are giving me a wireless router...waht am i suppose to do with it???
netmasta Posted July 20, 2005 CID Share Posted July 20, 2005 Are they giving the router to you for free? If so keep it. I would.
wyantm06 Posted July 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 Ok this is what the guy told me to just do...He told me to have the technician hook up my modem next to the ps2 so its not choppy, he said he doesnt recomend wireless ps2...so have the modem installed near the ps2, and then make my computer downstairs wireless...Does that sound good?? Or will it cause problems or what?
richcornucopia Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 Wireless may not be as reliable as an ethernet connection but most of the time it should work ok. If they arent included the wireless adapter for the down stairs pc then I would just buy some ethernet cable and run it from the router to the computer. Of course only if it would be cheaper than buying an adapter.

Grambler Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 Getting ready to do the same thing to my XBoX. Be sure to use wireless "G" not wirless "B". Wireless G is much faster and you get a more reliable signal.
wyantm06 Posted July 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 So this one is no good??? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000AJVBW/ref%3Dpd%5Fsl%5Faw%5Falx-jeb-9-1%5Fce%5F4550941%5F2/102-6160461-0572165
Grambler Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 What kind of router are they setting you up with? This would be much better and more reliable adapter for game. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16873999102
richcornucopia Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 You can save a lot of money if you go with B, but G would be better. That doesn't mean that that one isnt any good, it just means you could get a better one if you went with G but do you want to spend 84 bucks? richcornucopia Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 I think thats what he means, cause its a modem + wireless + router which is basically that product.
Grambler Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 This is more economical game adapter, but still "G" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000YL8SO/ref=pd_sxp_f/103-0608878-1700660?v=glance&s=electronics
