Dude you need to work on your puter some. Try a TCP optimizer and do some cleaning. Have never gotten worse than 500kbps at bad time of day. No tweaks. My grandma is slow but she is dead. Defragment and disk clean. But at the age of 169 I guess it is keeping up with you.(your profile).

I've got a DW4000 on G4R 99 degrees. I'm usually around 1.8 -1.9 mbps and peaking between 2.3 - 2.5 mbps at perfect conditions with my proxy server running wide open. When I lose speed it's usually for one of two reasons. 1) Direcway lowers the packet size as a load sharing function (ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE) ... or 2) My proxy server gets hung up or quits completely.

Clue me in on a 6000. Does a DW6000 still run a proxy server or not? is there any tweaking you can do since it's self hosted? How many concurrent connections can you bind to your 6000?

Tweaks with the 6000 do virtually nothing. The 6000 is more consistent with its speeds than the 4000 (so I've heard), but it's just not as fast.

I  think what your saying is my test was a fluke. It's not. Granted, it's later in the afternoon and the loading on DirecWay is going up (the weekend!) Hence the speeds are going down. But this is still much faster than what most people post for a basic residential DW account.

My "run of the mill" speeds are 1780 to 1881 until recently. I'm now getting 1900 to 2300 when things are good. When trsffic is high though I get as low as 1200 - 1400, but not too often. Rebooting the DW usually corrects it a little (why, iI haven't a clue!)

2.6 mbps on a DW4000. (the secret is keeping your proxy server using the maximum amount of ports you can. Unfortunately, I have not mastered the art of making DPC behave.

Have you tried D-way tech? So they do wear out? I feel that anything I suggest will be silly because you have been around so long. You could probably write books on what I don't know yet. Nobody here suggests anything because you have so much time here. They say that about some of my questions. But I still have a lot to learn. And they do not realize that I am 47 and have learned so much else it takes a little longer for me. Have you tried a total recovery on computer, I know I hate to do this too, but sometimes starting from scratch. Maybe a new modem? Repointing dish? Grounding. Just poking for something might have missed. Ram upgrade. Cable connections. Modem restart. Have installer come out and check "everything". Just trying to help. Not much of one to give up. Let me know how I am doing. Go to help section. Tried vcleaner by Grisoft.

Just sad that I have not noticed anyone else try to help. If you were a noobie they would have jumped right in a long time ago.

DWay hasn't responded to my recent emails, I don't have the time to call at the moment...

Just reformatted a couple weeks ago... also, speed is the same on other computers...

New modem might help, I'm certainly not gonna pay for a new one though... repoint may help, but again with DWay support (I'm not gonna pay for a repoint either... I'd only do it if they pay)  Dish is grounded, connected good, restarted modem several times... still bad

If you get under 200 Kbps for so long are they not supposed to do something at d-way? Or so I heard. According to their test site? So you have to pay for a repoint and I don't because I am still under contract I suppose?
