FromPlanetBob Posted October 17, 2005 CID Share Posted October 17, 2005 Up to 3 Mbps/ 768Kbps $19.95 a month. http://www22.verizon.com/ForHomeDSL/channels/dsl/packages/default.asp I would rather get that than paying $59 a month for slower speeds and a cap of 169 mb per 4 hours. Anyway, are you on the 4000 modem? There is no way he could be on a 4000 with speeds like that, he's on a 6000 or 7000 and likely a professional account. Why are you quoting DSL to DirecWay Users? Don't you think we know DSL is better than DirecWay? Don't you think we'd all drop DirecWay if DSL came in the area? Gesh.

illspawn Posted October 20, 2005 CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 Still Faster than DSL!!! :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1614 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 197 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Sun Oct 16 01:59:23 CDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 29X faster than 56K 1MB download in 5.2 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 94.22 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com) I got speeds like that with D way with the 400 system and my signal was around 85-90 consistently. I just was able to get DSL in my area. There is no comparison. The raw download is about the same, but the upload and ping is awesome. I am also just using SBC lowest rate plan. I also like the lack of the hesitation for the return signal after a click is made. I feel for you guys that still have to use D Way, I really do. I do feel they screw the existing customers by not giving them the new equipment that the new customers get. Both people pay the same amount, but one gets a better product. Best of luck to you guys. waltham41 Posted October 20, 2005 CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 Thats what I recommend, get off of the consumer and at least get on the Pro plan.
illspawn Posted October 20, 2005 CID Share Posted October 20, 2005 I have to point out that although a lot of the people in india have been hard for me to understand, in my case at least all of them have tried to be helpful and I imagine it is very hard to troubleshoot a system out of a script book half a world away. It's not the consumer's job to be compationate to the business. The business is suppose to be compassionate to the consumer and not make you translate what the tech is saying. There company has the worse customer service I have ever seen.

ghostmaster Posted January 14, 2006 CID Share Posted January 14, 2006 pings an Dway are worse than dial up. with a 7000 system, the pings are around 700 - 800ms, when the system is working properly. Look into Wild Blue, they may be better for you. Either way, with any satellite system, you won't be able to play shooters, or any twitch games, unless the point of the game is to lag and die. JimPrice Posted January 17, 2006 CID Share Posted January 17, 2006 Welcome oldiebut. That's good that you got your money back, but that'll probably keep the AG satisfied. I had a very good learning experience with the AG office inf AZ, and they're take was that if the company eventually performs, by way of delivery or refund, they throw the complaint to the bottom of the pile. They want the non-performers who keep the money. But you can still hope.
blti Posted January 17, 2006 CID Share Posted January 17, 2006 There is a new Sat. provider, WildBlue. I use it, and sell it in my area. Speeds up 1.5 down, 256 up. I have seen speeds up to 2.1 meg down. I've replaced several Direcway, and Starband systems. Not one unhappy customer so far! Check and see if anyone is installing in your area, I really believe you would be satisfied.
JimPrice Posted January 17, 2006 CID Share Posted January 17, 2006 blti: Post a speed test in here (up and down) of your installation, done in prime-time hours, with a validaton link. That'd get my attention.
