tinamjones Posted September 9, 2005 CID Share Posted September 9, 2005 I've called SBC Yahoo! about my wireless internet problem. After 10 minutes, we got the connection back and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I hung up I got the "Windows is unable to connect to 2WIRE014 network". I had to reboot. I've rebooted three times in the last five minutes to get my internet connection back. ARRRGGH!! Help! Anyone!!

tinamjones Posted September 9, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 9, 2005 When the signal is working, it says the signal strength is "Excellent". Do you know what I should use to check for spyware/viruses?

If you use a wireless router, especially the Linksys, try resetting your modem and router. The router will have a small button you hold in untill you see all the lights on the router flash. Then change your internal settings in the router to only allow your mac address to connect to the router. If you have a linksys use this number in the web address to enter your routers set up. http://192.168.1.1/
resopalrabotnick Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 changing the channel used may also help.
Swimmer Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 see if setting a static ip address fixes your problem.. just choose one that is pretty high.. like 192.168.0.120 or something like that.. if you dont know how to do this let us know
tbaker397 Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 Go into your router settings and see what the DHCP release is set to(if you even have DHCP)
Swimmer Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 default should be 30 min to an hour.. that shouldnt cause the disconnects that he is discribing.. it would be a good idea to start the computer.. check the ip and then when it disconnects recheck the ip.. tbaker397 Posted September 13, 2005 CID Share Posted September 13, 2005 I was just throwing somethin out there. Before we moved(fam. & i) my router had a DHCP release of 2 minutes. Which made me mad because every 2 minutes i would lose internet. Makes it impossible to download anything. ANYWAY, i dunno, sorry man. FallowEarth Posted September 13, 2005 CID Share Posted September 13, 2005 Is that a 2wire router? You can always try setting up a static IP connection. Also make sure that your wireless adapter drivers are up to date, and the firmware for the router. Also make sure that you aren't running too much security (sometimes a software firewall can interfere with the firewall settings on the router....I'm not sure that it would disconnect but who knows). Is it WinXP? What does your wireless network say when it has disconnected?
