Does anyone on these forums have a T1 at house and set up a game server on it?

I don't think anyone here has a T1 line. Some people have Walden Web wich is a DS3 and its 45/45 but its a shared connection I believe. The closest anyone has around here is Blunted, who has a 1500/1500 SDSL line. Same speeds as the T1 line. And he hosts XBL games all the time. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Yes you are right about getting 2 1500/1500 sdsl lines, but if your no where near the C.o . then a t1 is a great option for someone who is in need of alot of bandwidth and a reliable line as well.

So 2 sdsl lines:

Maybe $280-300 a month for each ($600 amonth)

1 T1 line:

maybe $380-500 a month

why not i want to know the price cause i am nuts like that and would spend $1,000 a month for a connection but there isnt 1 around that i can buy except a T1 and i have 2 lines thats more than that now so i have to wait.  now while i wait can you tell me  :?:

there are 2 guys here that both run 200+ on there servers or so they say. the problem would be your location and price i agree 2 dsl lines would make better server anyway for what you are using. now i read the fine prient for my connectiton here www.waldenweb.com/Internet_Access/Our_Internet_Philosophy/our_internet_philosophy.html if you want to read te whole story but my advertised connestion was 10/10 when i moved in and from reading that is what every one has.

Each XYLAN Omni-switch Chassis at Walden has a 23 gigabit backplane at its core, allowing for up to 224 hundred megabit connections simultaneously. These chassis also boast Layer 3 switching also known as hardware routing. This means that rather than route local traffic through software, special chips have been designed to route packets at speeds of up to 2 million packets per second. xylan3

On properties where distance limits our use of a central chassis, Omni-stack 10/100 layer three switches are employed, with OC-3 (155 megabit fiber) uplinks to a switch with a 4 gigabit backplane. so long story short they got each of use on a 10/100 switch and not everyone her has there internet or uses it and so ther is leftovers thats were you see the 16 up 29 mb speeds from me. pay for 10 and get alot more........sweet :icon_thumleft::icon_thumright:

[move]Our goal in the design of Walden's MAN and Internet backbone was simple enough: "Lets give em' so much bandwidth that its their computer that becomes the bottleneck"[/move].

I would rather have a T1 Then a SDSL line because SDSL is not as consistant or relyable as a T1. We a have a SDSL line and a T1 Ware i work and the T1 Kicks he crap out of the SDSL line. plus the T1 is more dedicated.

You can get a Sdsl line dedicated if you want but it is going to be like 320 a month and if your close to the C.o is worth it . Correct me if i'm wrong but what kind of internet is a T1. Like would u consider it cable, dsl or fiber or what?

ive got a server on a dedicated t1 and no, u will not be able to host 2 20man servers off it, it has roughly 193KB/s or b/w (upload) and that is no where near enough, and i believe u can use coaxial cable or fiber optic for it..correct me if im wrong.

its not currently running any server..this is as fast as it will upload to testmy.net..
