Huge difference in speed

his Tweak will speed up the page loading in firefox:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return.

Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a

time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once,

which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.

This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name

it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This

value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts

on information it receives. If you're using a broadband

connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Disabling refererrer headers can also help. Set the value of "network.http.sendRefererheader" to 0. This setting isn't for everyone though and not everyone will recomend it.

Also I found that I got better performance when I switched my initial paint delay from 0 to 250 or 125.

i've tried this and i didn't notice much of a differance.i like firefox, but once in awhile my bookmarks will get deleted.meanwhile,i've done a fresh re-install with the newest version 1.07

I had that happen to me once. I forget how it happened. A good way to prevent losing your bookmarks is to back them up. In Firefox:

Bookmarks>>Manage Bookmarks>>Export.

It will save it as an HTML bookmart file that can be easily be read and imported into another browser. Not that you'd want to leave FF. :)

This tweak does seem to make my pages appear quicker but load slower. Even though it "seems to take more time in all, i can definitely tell that they start earlier. What it seems like to me is that it removes the delay where firefox waits for info, then quickly makes all the info appear real quick, and instead takes the info as it comes. I dont know if this is good for everyone, but when i do testmy.net speed tests now, it slowed my connection from what is usually 2.9MB to only 2MB

Also, how do i remove that nglayout thing from about:config?
