breakfromyou Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 no such thing as a pentiumD HT. pentium D with HT = Pentium D EE 840...dual core. and you better be comparing it to the Athlon 64 X2... in that case, X2. not looking at the price...its overpriced IMO, but still a nice CPU. Go with a sempron, one of my friends has a Sempron 3100+ and its pretty darned quick...i also have a friend with a Celeron D (the 2.8 GHz model...whichever one that is) and it didn't impress me at all...AMD all the way (though i admit i AM biased toward AMD)
TheHalf Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 no such thing as a pentiumD HT. Of course there is: http://www.intel.com/personal/desktop/pentium_d/ vs. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9485_13041,00.html TheHalf
resopalrabotnick Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 :haha: and if you could show me on that page where it says it supports HT please? the dual core HT one is the pentium extreme edition. surprisingly enough the pentium D and pentium extreme have the same processor numbers, but one does, one doesn't have hyperthreading. i wonder how many people have accidentally bought the wrong processor? TheHalf Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 :haha: and if you could show me on that page where it says it supports HT please? On the Intel link, click and watch 'Dual-Core Demo'. TheHalf
resopalrabotnick Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 intel will also be offering some products with dual core technology and hyperthreading enabled. i read the will be offering products as we haven't come up with a name yet. pentiumD is dual core, single thread. pentium extreme edition is a flashy name, dual core and HT. and there is still nothing there, not even in the demo, that gives the combination of PentiumD and ht. JustinOhioRR Posted October 7, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 Ok. this is a Sempron vs Celeron thread.....if you want to start a Dual Core thread, go somewhere else, I coudl care less about that, its overpriced. Swimmer - For now, its what i got, so it will have to do. I am lookign at getting a 6800GT in the coming months.

raptors892004 Posted November 1, 2005 CID Share Posted November 1, 2005 very nice job indeed.. even though i got intel right now and i'm pretty happy about it, i'll definitely give AMD a try in the future
dlewis23 Posted November 1, 2005 CID Share Posted November 1, 2005 for the low performance of each of the processors, ill go spend a little more on a processor and get a Pentium M for $150 and put that in my desktop..
