Indestructable Posted October 6, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 6, 2005 liquid nitrogen sounds like some kind drug or something, is it cooling? and how does it work? I had my friend explain to me how water cooling worked, and he said that it only worked if you wanted to have a big loud compressor outside your house, and the possibility of having codensation drip on your components. true? RTB Posted October 6, 2005 CID Share Posted October 6, 2005 They've hit 7.1 Ghz, which was done the same way, quite some time ago. No idea what the limit for AMD is, but somewhere above 4 Ghz for sure.

Indestructable Posted October 6, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 6, 2005 yeah, really, I could only get my old AMD Duron to go up to about 985MHz, but I kept it at around 935MHz...it's normal was 885MHz, which, by my standards is just too slow.. Here is the tomshardware article.. they hit 5 ghz in 2003 using a P4.. http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20031230/ They have some videos.. basically it is like a liquid cooling system on roids.. RTB Posted October 9, 2005 CID Share Posted October 9, 2005 Looked it up: I've found CPU-Z screenies of a 7.2 Ghz P4, and a 4.096 Ghz FX-57. They were suicide screenies though.
disturbed Posted October 9, 2005 CID Share Posted October 9, 2005 the last computer ive sold was at 4.6 and running 100% stable .... it had a custom made water cooling system and it had more potential, but i wanted to sell it totally stable without it freezing up
