JimPrice Posted December 2, 2005 CID Share Posted December 2, 2005 Okay. I won't actually do that, but I will say that I ran a speed trial before I peaked, and it was about 95kbit down. Figured that was about right for Rate code 128 1/2, which was all it would pull being that bent out.

fikester Posted December 2, 2005 CID Share Posted December 2, 2005 The RG-11 has a higher specs, little better than most RG-6 coax. I figured after plunking down 600 for the system then having to re-do it all, why not? The RG-11 is a bit of an overkill for a 100' run. The transmitter run is much more sensitive to noise or signal loss. Its a little harder to work with because its much thicker, also a little expensive. If I run across the recommended coax specs I will post them. The gip installer used the cheapest crap he could buy.
Aggr3 Posted December 2, 2005 CID Share Posted December 2, 2005 So fikester ..what did it cost you to upgrade??
fikester Posted December 2, 2005 CID Share Posted December 2, 2005 I did the $49.99 with the contract extension (self install), also got the pro account. DSL is years away. Wildblue was my only other option here, but would have to drop more dough for equipment.

ghostmaster Posted December 7, 2005 CID Share Posted December 7, 2005 Dway's bigest problem will always be their lack of knowledgeable tier 1 support, esp for people with consumer level service.

fikester Posted December 15, 2005 CID Share Posted December 15, 2005 DirecWay has got problems on more than one transponder, this is my second DW7000 modem as you can see the new modem did nothing....now waiting on a engineer to call. I will wait no longer than 3 business days, no service, no pay. Very simple plan its called fike101! mrcleanshaven Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 hi fikester are your speeds still about what you posted in december? and if so, did you talk to dway about pointing to another bird? i have heard stories about 6000 to 7000 conversions which went off without a hitch and other horror stories. but, the latter were 'cured' by moving to IA8... or so the stories go... doveseagle Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 I have been with dw since 5/03 and went from a 4000 to 7000 in 1/06 and I am still not impressed with dw and some of their techs.
fikester Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 hi fikester are your speeds still about what you posted in December? and if so, did you talk to dway about pointing to another bird? i have heard stories about 6000 to 7000 conversions which went off without a hitch and other horror stories. but, the latter were 'cured' by moving to IA8... or so the stories go... I have been authorized for a re-point, line of site issue from current pole mount, waiting for Dway to decide if they are going to pay for the relocation of pole. I am still not convinced as others still complain after re-pointing to IA8. In route groups and other select account must make a difference. My system works fine during off peak hours right now 1050/200 thats what I pay for.....would expect no less than 600/100 during peak hours as well, not 145/180. None the less when WB launches again in the spring I'm done with this fraudlent game! Claims are filed with BBB, and FCC as well as currently speaking with an attorney. There is already an attorney in PA posting on-line about a class action suit. Problem is there is a large number of people using Dway that do not know they are getting ripped, it loads web pages it must work kinda people.....no clue. I have had a case open, now three still open since DEC 8th, only thing thats been done is a modem swap which did fix my upload problem. Its very obvious the system and PC work fine during the day, only thing changes in the evening hours would be number of users on Dways system. :::..
