Swimmer Posted December 23, 2003 CID Share Posted December 23, 2003 After talking to a senior tech rep i have found out that all current Comcast customers that have had the service for 2 months or more as of December 1st will receive the comcast pro package for free. That would include 3000 download and 512 upload. However, the system is still not ready for this upgrade. The tech's time line shows around Jan 15th or so for the upgrade to begin state wide. (Illinois) I have no idea what they are going to do in other states. Illinois has had numerous problems with comast and their service. IF ILLINOIS COMCAST COUSTOMERS COULD POST THEIR UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD TEST HERE THAT WOULD BE GREAT!! Also anyone that is on the new systems please fell free to post so that we can compair speeds. CA3LE Posted December 24, 2003 CID Share Posted December 24, 2003 I am out of the loop on this one, but 3000/256 is the service standard.
Swimmer Posted December 25, 2003 Author CID Share Posted December 25, 2003 That is what the new pro sevice will include. 3000/512...your upload might not be up to the full speed yet!

Swimmer Posted January 3, 2004 Author CID Share Posted January 3, 2004 Hey all this is what i got on Jan 2 @ 6:12. A script error or something bumped me to the 579 test when i used the smart test. I think this is the new speed that COMCAST was talking about. I will retest shortly. ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 2820 kbps about 3 Mbps (tested with 579 KB) Download Speed is: 344 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2042301 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 50 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 3 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=2042301&kbps=2820&gen=gen&a=1.14285714285714&b=0&c=1145.14285714286
EvilGnome099 Posted January 5, 2004 CID Share Posted January 5, 2004 Idk about the 512 kbps up either...Cuz I just got the upgrade in my area and I'm supposed to get 3000/384, which I am getting. Well, my upload speeds have been around 256 though most of the time still, maybe my upload hasn't been fully upgraded yet...?
Billy The Mountain RAR Posted January 5, 2004 CID Share Posted January 5, 2004 I used to be on comcast but they sold out to Bresnan ( Thank God) I was on the pro package and was told it was 3.4MB down and 384k up. This was about a year ago so if your paying for a premium or "Pro" package you would think they would make it sweeter?
Pmpn4Lfe Posted February 3, 2004 CID Share Posted February 3, 2004 My upload is slow i think, average 29KB/s, average download around 400-500KB/s wen downloading from sites etc. It wouldnt let me test with any smaller file size it kept bumping me up to the 1.5mb one 2 test with ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 4012 Kbps about 4 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is: 490 KB/sec Auth Code: 2060181 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 72 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.09 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&num=2060181&kbps=4012&gen=gen&a=1.14285714285714&b=0.571428571428571&c=1145.14285714286

RTB Posted February 3, 2004 CID Share Posted February 3, 2004 It wouldnt let me test with any smaller file size it kept bumping me up to the 1.5mb one 2 test with That's just to increase accuracy, since you're on such a a fast connection ( ). Otherwise the results could have a much wider range of possibilities, and that's not good.
