Last resort for Noisy/Defective Hard Drives...

This may have been just coincidence, but I had a hard drive that was making all sorts of noises(mostly on boot up), constantly had bad sectors, etc...Finally, it decided it didnt want to boot anymore...

I forget where I read it, but someone said to try throwing it in the freezer...

Wouldn't you know it...I popped it in there...(then kinda forgot about it for a day), and to my amazement it worked, and made no noise...I reformatted drive, and to this day have not had a problem with it...

Someone explained it has something to do with the physical expansion inside the hard drive from excessive heat, and by cooling it down quickly, it actually will shrink it back to its normal size...

Like I said it could have been a freak coincidence, but it worked for me....

Went from about ready to toss a 60gig HD, to having it work like new...
