  1. Interesting read and all...but this wouldn't be appropriate in the news section since you all know that this is a tech site and we are pushing for tech related news...but non the less...good stuff Roco..its interesting to see foreign policies change so rapidly

HAHA, maybe CA3LE needs a new site: www.testmyPatience.net

At leat we have the off topic section when we feel like slugging it out on non tech items.

  2. it's funny. here in puerto rico the locals all speak spanish. schools (public) suck and if they do teach english the teachers barely speak it themselves. the funny thing is you are more likely to run into older people that are bilingual than kids since the older generation is better educated and knows the vlue of speaking english. they are all american citizens so when i have the time i will let them find someone that speaks english when i'm getting assistance in a store. i only use spanish if i absolutely have to.

    Rant Warning, again.

Thanks Reso, I agree with you. If one wants to advance then they should speak English in the USA (including Puerto Rico).

I used to live in Oregon, and there are numerous immigrants out there.

there were even a few Plaid Pantry's (convenient stores) owned by Chinese that had employees that did not speak English.

I do not know a single word in Chinese, so I was forced just to walk out. Very annoying.

These were in the suburbs, too, not the China Town area.

But rest assured, if I moved to a non English speaking country, I would learn the language, it would be my obligation as a guest in their land.

Roco, where I live there are a lot of meat processing plants.

Every so often the INS and State Police raid them and with the same result; hundreds arrested, and hundreds fleeing through the fields.

The last time there was a major bust, there were children left at schools with no parents to pick them up; let alone to go home with.

Many of the kids had been born here, so they are citizens, but the parents were illegals and therefore usually deported.

It was a huge mess, the children should not have been separated from their parents, but what else could be done?

    Something needs to change.

If our democracy (US, Britain) is such a disgrace to the rest of the non-free world, then why all of the illegal immigration?

I'm sure there are examples out there, but I can't recall any US or British citizens illegally crossing into Mexico, or Russia or China for anything other then political or legal reasons.

Well enough on this subject - sorry everybody.

  3. Nice find Roco.

I just need my BP raised up a little more tonight, THANKS!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I hope I don't run into them, they won't get any help from me.

Unless you are an obvious tourist, THEN SPEAKA' FREAKIN' ENGLISH!!!!!! This is the USA, not Chihuahua.

If, God forbid, I ever find my dumb ass in Chihuahua, or whatever, then I will learn Spanish.

    Until then, ENGLISH.

I know what this country was founded on, but we speak English damnit.

Roco, what do the good people in the UK think of foreigners moving in and working next to you but flat out refusing to learn English?

  4. Well that all looks good, levels are well within the window and you have a 40dB SNR on the downstream which is very good.

Since you have 2 PCs connected, both getting the same slow speeds - the first device in common is the Belkin router.

I would try disconnecting the router and plugging the modem straight in to the wired PC and check results.

You may need to re-boot the PC and router to get a connection.

This should at least help narrow it down to a simple Comcast problem.

  5. That's a load o' crap, chucky.

I would be finding a new one tomorrow, also.

I work for a local phone co and just today worked with a business customer whose lines were down due to heavy flooding.

I wanted to fix their problem, but I have not been issued SCUBA gear; the equipment is 4-5 feet under water.

Anyways, I called the office and had many of his lines forwarded to cell phones, etc.., since he understood that I was unable to fix it today (which I hate doing, but I could not do anything to bring them up).

Anyways, hope you have better luck with a competitor.

  6. Like GIXXERGUY6 said, make sure there are no 2.4 GHz phones near the PC or wireless access point.

My parents had issues until I drove 200 miles to their home just to find that her 2.4 GHz phone was right next to the laptop, now all is well.

As for the external antenna; that will most likely stabilize your connection.

    I would go that route.

You could even try a high gain antenna on both the AP and the far computer if you wanted.

Just be sure that the add on antenna has the proper connector. (ie: reverse SMA, etc.)

  7. :haha: :haha: :haha: No there really isnt. Most of the people I knew in Roswell were originally from Mexico. So they are Mexicans and not New Mexicans. (well I guess both technically) I was born in the USA if I go to Australia I am still American, not Australian.  :grin2: I love the analogy though.  :2funny: :2funny: BTW I dont eat Pace, I have enough "real Mexican" friends I get the good stuff. Their my dealers.  :evil6:

    I see. My bad.

I need to find myself a "dealer" here.

The last time I had real salsa was during a quick trip to Austin.

That certainly wasn't Pace or any other US brand.

BTW, hometown Roswell? Now I get you...  :welcome:  Nanoo Nanoo, my friend.

  8. I have a question you might know swimmer. Is it ok to leave the charger cord still plugged in while its completed the charge? I don't want it to ruin battery either. This battery only lasts like 2 hours.

I have a gateway laptop that is plugged in at least 9 hours a day when I am working.

this is my 4th or 5th laptop over the years I have had (due to upgrades) and leaving them plugged in has never caused me any issue's.

Today's notebooks are pretty smart when it comes to power, so i personally would not sweat it.

BTW, I just installed Speedfan on an older spare PC I have at home, and it gave me some pretty good readings and info on temps and fan speeds.
