right. but if you expect /every/ pr adelphia customer to do so, fuggedaboudit. the public schools here suck the big one, half the kids don't even know they're US citizens, and the number of people here that don't speak english is scary. probably more people (percentagewise) in europe literate in english than here.

one of the problems: all traffic from pr routed through miami because of the physical layout. (seacable). other problem: miami is itself a high fdensity area, meaning it has to carry the local load plus the load from pr. aggravating that is the fact that adelphia pr is not really part of adelphia, it is a seperate entity etc.

-
funny thing is, when i cache, i get about around 75 mbps. sounds like his system is seriously slow there.

Suggestions for a Budget Computer

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, 16X DVD+/-RW Drive http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=23319&pfp=BROWSE 460 after rebates. incl. 17" monitor. maybe not as optimum as the custom stuff, but it includes the software, which is worth in this case around 200 bucks by itself. (xp home, works and smallfry) and that is why the bundled box is the better budget system. -
mh, thining of a diff beach then, the one i have in mind is a rock mound separating it from runway and then just a few feet of sand. and that's pre 04. deaf, prolly not, since landing airliners are quiet, and taking off they would be far higher once crossing beach. but there must be a fuckload of sand blown around from the wingtip vortices. exciting for plane buffs maybe, but the everyday tourist?
-
i forget what island it is, and don't feel like googling it atm. but there is a runway that ends pretty much right at the beach. some of the images look photoshopped to me though, since while the aircraft do come in as low as that, usually people avoid the area due to the noise and the wingtip vortices.

compusa takes comps as trade ins. ask local store if possible 2 get hands on one. also check local dealers that upgrade comps what they do with old arts, ebay, classifieds. -

build 2. 1 from cheap old parts, a box to tinker with. and buy a decent discount box, to have a decent but affordable system to do the software part of learning and work and play on. -

OK Smart Guy, figure this one out. (girls allowed too)
resopalrabotnick replied to Shug7272's topic in General Discussion
but if it has different size sticks, he still wont have dual channel. spring for the extra 99 and buy that second gig shug, then at least you're maxed out on the comp and won't have to worry about wether or not to upgrade later. -

well, you might still be disablingb the dual channel with that config. it seems the gain of .75 gig makes up for it. -

Do I really need a different wireless router w/ FiOS??
resopalrabotnick replied to FiOSCustomer's topic in Verizon FIOS
you're right on target down, the up is ok. up is less important to max out anyways. do a test here, that's what the place is for anyhow. edit and the b wireless won't slow you down then, since the max 11Mbit/s is more than the 5Mbit your connection has. so the g router is not a must, only if you want to be faster between the machines. -

is that wireless, or wired. and what do they advertise for your link? if it's slower than what they advertise, get a hold of vanburen in makeitfaster, he'll tweak it. -

the kneebone is connected to the legbone, the legbone... almost. the fios goes to the linksys. no bottleneck. the linksys goes to the docking station (laptop replicator) should be no bottleneck, 100 mbit wired ethernet the wireless connection runs through the 802.11b wireless part of the linksys here there is the 11 Mbit bottleneck, since 802.11b is just that, 11Mbit/s. getting the correspponding dlink 802.11g router would change that, since g is 54Mbit/s max. if verizon likes the dlink for debugging, i see no harm in getting that, it will make them less likely to say ah, but you bought the xxx router, we don't support that, it's your fault. basically, it's up to you which router you get. minimum requirements for you are that it has the 100 Mbit switch to hook up the docking station and whatever other wired systems you have. (maybe the other laptops when using them at the same desk? wired always better than wireless, and the 802.11g wireless capability. -

i think you borked it. but seriously. you have a dual channel capable system. when you performed the onestickoftwofiftysixmegectomy and transplanted the gigstick you disabled the dual channel capability by giving it two different sizes of ram stick to handle. either stick the 256 back in or pop in another gig. -

the laptop on the docking station will get full speed due to it being wired, the slower connects will be the wireless laptops. on the bright side, the wireless laptops won't be able to gobble all the bandwidth, so you can be sure the wired one will always have some speed reserves.
