i haven't tried, but i can tell you with assurance that it doesn't work. what you gave is an ip that is not intended for public use. it is part of the ip addresses reserved for private/corporate INTERNAL networks. you have an ip addy from your isp. you need to use that and forward the port in question from your router to the 192.xxxxxx ip you gave. if it happens that some of the people trying to get on where in fact on the same internal network as you there might be other issues. but the major error stated above remains.

there's a bunch of howtos and faqs on the page too. check em out. might find some useful tips for the use too, you never know.

look at the website. it offers the servers for different os flavors for dl as well.

i would say the high speeds you get are due to you testing when there is little traffic on their net. if their net has the capacity even lower priority traffic should/could/would get good speeds. the second something 'important' wants the capacity the unimportant stuff gets backburnered again.

http://www.goteamspeak.com/ they say it's free for noncommercial etc. there's a big faq there and downloads for the software. you'll probably have to dig through some of that if you want to run your own server...

you best ask your internet service provider about that. they can give you a step by step howto. -

now that i have your undivided WILL YOU ZIP YOUR FLY UP ALREADY?!? JEEZ! attention i would like to ask all of you why you even bother with comparison threads between browsers, processors, gpu's etc. etc. etc. It is the nature of a forum that pretty much all views given are subjective. quotes of objective reports or actual objective numbers do occasionally sneak in, but that is the exception that only proves the rule. furthermore, all the subjective opinions given on a subject only serve to set the opposite subjective opinion more firmly in the mind of the one holding it. most people prefer a brand or mentality or whatever of a certain item and will in all likelyhood not be swayed by mere arguments. while the occasional holy war on a subject is fun, it does get tedious, doesn't it? even polls on the subject reflect not the true numbers of users/proponents of something but merely what camp is currently more militant in promoting its view. now get back to looking for the promised XXX, have a happy new year.

scruffy, do the world a favor and post the correct conversion tables then, so the erroneous ones can be corrected. thank you, happy new year.

the hard drive died due to overuse of the swapfile? -
and the reason they do not allow you unlimited numbers of repoints is because a repoint is a reassignment of transponder/bird. imagine the havoc if people were allowed to repoint at will. while probably not that much of an administrative effort to reassign the transponder in their database it would lead to people getting a repoint every time the traffic on their transponder peaked, slowing them down, to get on whatever transponder is 'free' at the moment. the only interesting part about that would be a study of user behavior and propagation of tips on 'hot' birds on forums like this. "get on 89w quick, it's screaming!" 10 minutes later when everyone has repointed and the speed is in the crapper "satmex x is hot hot hot!" it would take only weeks for every halfway speedhungry dway customer to have a motorized selfaligning dish. or possibly a second one as well to scan the other birds at intervals to gauge their traffic load. speed would turn into less of a lottery and more into a high tech game of follow the leader.

Windows zero day nightmare exploited.
resopalrabotnick replied to TheHalf's topic in General Discussion
the problem is a dll that stems more or less from the original 3.x since the inception of the .wmf format it has remained unchanged. the proliferation of this file format and handling of the same all through the os is probably what makes eradication of the bug so difficult. one of the dangers is that removing just wmf extensions from the recognized file formats is no good. windows will recognize a .wmf named .jpg to be a wmf when it opens it and send it to the picture and fax viewer where exploit code can be run. the problem is a buffer overflow in the header of the wmf that allows a prepped wmf to dump code into the stack. -
sounds like a scrollwheel contact problem where it sends out a bunch of 'down' impulses due to a jittery contact which causes the page to scroll down. you can try opening it and cleaning any contacts that may be the culprit, but you're probably gonna end up either disabling the wheel or buying a new mouse.

a tip for getting a pull string in to the vent you want to come out of (since ac ducts are sometimes run pretty convoluted.) set the fan to high and then tie a string to a lightly wadded up piece of paper or a large lump of cotton. let the fan blow it down the duct playing out the string, closing all the vents but the one you want to come out of. then use the string to pull a firmer cord through, then that cord to pull the cable. look at the layout of ducting in the house to figure out where you have to introduce the string to get where you want to go. can make getting around otherwise impossible to negotiate corners easier, although the wife my ask you just wtf you are doing flying a kite in the ac ducting...

whoops. my sig meaning my signature. the click me thingies right above the suepahfly. there is some tuning tips in them. and as for the connection, post how fast your dsl should be. if you have the dsl independent of the aol account, i strongly recommend losing the aol. that's 25 bucks a month for nothing. iirc verizon dsl should be fine without the aol. and the router, is it connecting to the vaio via cable or wireless? putting a cable to the spot you usually use the laptop will help ensure constant speed.

read the 2 links in my sig and post all the info asked for.
