Hmmmmm I think the upload test is accurate ,its just no one has paid for a fast connection for a high upload speed, But I guess we will see:)Then of course you gotta have something to do with a fast up capacity...I get twice what I pay for Microwave

First let me welcome you to the site I hope you enjoy, lots of good info being shared...........I was running 98se some time back and testing on this site(ya know when everything was in black and white...lol)Norton did really slow down my connection,the way I found out is was not using anything and then installed Nortons and wow really killed my speed. I liked Norton but I changed to McAfee on the 98se and no problem with my speeds. ( I know there are a lot of NON McAfee fans) I have been running Win xp home for over a year and a half and there is a big difference instead of 98se..... so if you can find a copy of some other pgm I think your speed will increase, in my opinion its way to risky now not to run a anti virus pgm.....but I know people that still do......I guess it makes life more exciting....lol ..good luck:) Microwave

Yeah!! When it was first possible I used my mobile phone to go on Internet I think just so I could say I did it...lol.... but it was pretty lame and terrible connection that kicked me several times and was sooo slow.... But I was able to do it ......for what reason I dont know....lol, and I haven't tried it since.... But I think in an emergency it is a way to communicate. Microwave

OUCH, This is not a good thing as you already know, I'm interested how long ago you installed sp2?? I think it may be possible to get your files back ....except doing it by hand is a long long process. Just for giggles on one of the files that are named 0001 find the file it corresponds with and try to rename it to see if that corrects that file!! Have you tried to restore to an earlier date??? what ever you do take your time , as you know once its toasted ....its GONE.....hmmmmm good luck and let us know:) Hey Rocky! Good I'm glad Pops let you back into the cyber world, speaking from my own experience parents get frustrated very easily and sometimes blow up or act as if things are more intense then the kid thinks, but I think for the most part parents always have their kids wellbeing in mind, but we overreact:( it ain't easy being a kid or a parent, I didn't get any instructions with any of the units....lol...... as my kids became adults our relationship changed, lucky for me and my kids my wife was more mellow and seemed to know what to do instinctively and her heart help her make decisions where I think I reacted more trying to use logic. Which by the way doesn't work:( when I was young and out of control .....I was supposed to be young and out of control, and didn't want dumb parents stopping my FUN.Most all of my reactions were due to FEAR....you know am I a bad parent, will the kid be hurt by this, where will I get the money for this.....and on and on and on>>>>>> strange thig is 99% of the things I have ever worried about never happened....man I could of spent that time surfing or looking at porn (joke) or arguing with the wife....point is anything but that:) The good news is I think it always gets better ....its just the time in between that kinda sux......Remember most all parents want the best for kids,its just parents and kids dont agree on what is best at any given time:):)Life was great as a kid I just didnt know it at the time...lol.. no responsibility's.or bills................ I saw 153 today at 2:25 pm .....just wondering what the rest of you have seen. This is the highest number I have seen I think!! But I'll bet CA3LE GUY has an accurate record of most users on-line at one time:)And of course my test speeds were the same, so no slow down with these kick ass servers:) Microwave

Unless the real reason is they didn't want to pay for and give a forum to bash their guy.......sure they believe in free speech ...as long as you agree with them. And in my opinion both parties are the same.....not a dimes worth of difference as far as I have ever been able to see. I think you have conquered the hardest part and that is you said you are willing to learn:) many people throw up their hands and give up. There are many knowledgeable people on this site that will be willing to help you in any way that they can. The more information you give us about your equipment and what you want to do the easier it is to try and help:) The other thing I always do when I'm making changes is to have a good copy of my REG files, so visit as often as you like and have fun and tell your friends about the cool testing site you found.........
