ok I'll brag about my speed from cox~hsi Microwave

yeah but keep after it and I'm sure they will fix it correctly,I did service work for many years and sometimes it takes a bit but if the customer didn't let us no there was a problem we assumed everything was ok.......so bug them until its fixed and let us Know thanks Microwave

My advertised speed is 3000/256 so as you can see Iam getting more than that although my upload is usually right on the money at 256......Iam very happy with my service from cox.... Microwave

These kinds of issues are always the ones that have people scratching their head and sometimes pulling out their hair...and .....to me the answer is there is no one answer... I can state many instances of occurrences that may or may not make sence...example: if you take a race car and tune it to perfection or factory specs.you will get different results (speed) all over the country due to different environmental conditions...humidty elevation etc....there are many documented cases of radio receivers that have a distance of a few miles being able to transmit and receive for thousands of miles......blah blah blah blah....in the world of computers why would it be any different...its not.... things work the way they do sometimes and its not really broken.....now Iam not saying that things cant be fined tuned, but lots of times its just that way .......now when I am able to figure this thing out 100% thats when I write the book and get rich lol..when I was doing tech work for many years my standard response to why did it not work this time?answer=like when you drive up to the local 7=11 or whatever, and you come out and your car doesn't start, its just the time it decided to happen thats all(me pissing off customers lol)anyway I know this doesn't answer the ? for everyone but I got my answer a long time ago.....that doesn't mean I have to like it ,I just have to accept it.......Also some sites are wrong....but they always give me the same wrong answer.....hmmm is it really wrong then?? I think what we are all saying is if you can do it the only way to surf is broadband and alot of us use our cable TV company's,mine is cox~hsi which happens to be the co. that ca3le guy works fo....So he is the guy with the real scoop on broadband. I pay $39.95per month which is about twice the amount as most dial up....but there is no comparison to the speeds 56K v 488K which is faster than I pay for.....I pay for 3000/256....wow more than 71 times faster than the BEST dial up....pretty cool huh!! Swimmer, If you are asking is ca3le guy server in Texas I'am almost certain that is correct,I traced stuff one time but dont rem the name of the Network.....are you saying his speed is alot higher due to being close to server,while I agree that you would have some increase in speed I think its nominal... Krix welcome... Shutterfly Iam sorry to say that we tried the very same thing a few years back and were unable to make it work....Although we eventually did find a way to change the bios it was not an easy task.Also let me point out that these were company own machines ie we really didn't care if they ever worked again or not hehe...Those restore disk have some built in features that make it very difficult to waver very far from what they want you to do. Swimmer, You are correct about the T1 except when I was installing Ti ckts, the ckt had to be built the way you are referring to.Basically a T1 is a ckt that has 28 channels which can be used for voice or data.....now the fun part if a customer is willing to pay the extra $$$$ to the phone C.O. the ckt can be built to those specs.generally people go the cheaper route.The new voice over IP has changed alot of this stuff and, I haven't seen the inside of a phone room or "data center" for a little longer than 2 years....Of course I really miss my interaction with "qwest" or "us West" or whatever they are calling themselves this week...........
