  1. As RTB already said the first thing to do would be turn back the hands of time...restore Reg to pre tinkering. That is if you saved a good copy of your registry, there is stuff that can be downloaded to "tweak" you connection and will actually decrease speed by 50% or more so you must be careful even if you made the adjustments by hand.Lets us know what happens or if you need more help post more info. 12. yeah, I waited for several years to buy a home PC cause it was changing so fast every time I got close to buying, some new stuff was just coming out.As a result I went a long time using a laptop from work,I just kept thinking my "new" PC will be outdated as soon as I get it home. Now when I look back I think I had the wrong approach, technology is always that way and if you wait you miss out on the technology thats at hand. Like the old adage "Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream" he he.So now I say buy what YOU can afford today because if ya wait ya don't have shit!! Microwave

  14. I agree with ca3le guy, kick their asses hehehe.really I would probably start from the beginning, that is run only one(yours) PC first to benchmark the connection and see your avg. speed.Next I would bring the other units on line one at a time and test further until I found the bandwidth hog then I would kick their ass.You have been given some ideas that can pinpoint where the problem is,then you can fix the problem or restrict HOGS,doesn't matter what they are doing if it is using most of the BW all the time it needs to STOP.Of course I suppose you could split the connections and bring in a whole new drop as cheap as INTERNET service is now.I don't know about you but its not a problem I would want to live with.I take my surfing pretty serious so I would do something to fix the issue.Thats always been the problem with some room mates if they arn't drinkin your beer, or eating your food, or porkin your girlfriend, they are using using all the BW and messing up the porn tapes....lol!!! 20. reddog00, Thats exactly how I feel, Iam going to pay around $20.00 for shitty dial-up anyway so for $20.00 more I can get at least 50 times faster speeds from cable, not a bad deal in my opinion.I may be prejudice about dial-up and DSL only because I worked with copper phone lines for alot of years.I think for me anyway cable is the best thing to come along since sliced bread he he.Although there are many different types of connections I think someone should experiment to see what works best for them.In my case thats COX HSI in Tucson AZ.It wasn't that long ago where there was not but one choice and that sucked, now there are many choices and better pricing along with killer speeds and kick ass equiptment.......its a tough life ain't it...hehehe Microwave
