I would also reccomend filing a complaint online with the BBB...only takes a few mins and at the least will likely get some refunds of monthly fees etc.. One month of internet refunded to me is well worth 15mins? It normally takes 2-3 weeks for a response. If customer support wants to make you pay for a service call, would be asking why the dish wasn't installed correctly the first time. I see on other forums there are many WB customers not getting good evening speeds. The scientist still will not admit "a problem exist" .....as time goes on its becoming more evident. (I know they are reading)

Go to the wildblue site enter your zip code for plans available.....if it has a statement above the plans about "overwhelming demand" ......WB is simply oversold on many beams, don't let anyone tell you different. Its called greed factor. *also if the equipment gets good speeds in the early morning hours, then slows in the evening hours....don't let a "scientist" convince you your dish needs realigned.

Here is a picture of me holding the Rose Hair T got for my boy.... the Goliath is not recommended for beginners at all. The boy is very happy with it.
-
I ended up getting a 3.5" rose hair.....found only .75" red knees. Picked it up locally...the spider itself was around $30

Can anyone make a recommendation to select a Tarantula to get for a beginner? I'm thinking of getting a rose hair or a red knee ?

HughesNet response to my BBB complaint
fikester replied to guitarjim's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
I dont think the number of days will effect it.....my speed was slow first evening after install, since then Hughes has added bandwidth but at times think the high number of people switching to the Ka band is affecting the speeds, and some beams may not experience the slow downs. Mine has been slowing to around 800k normally in the peak evening hours for a short time compared to the 1600k+ rest of the day. Uploads are solid 225-275k Currently would have to say much better the the Ku speeds. ::::::::::.. HUGHESNET HN9000 SLOWDOWN / HOST CHANGE
fikester replied to compuguybna's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
The slowdowns in the evening are dipping to around 500-1000Kbps during peak hours, apparently still migrating as many Ku band and new customers to the Ka band as possible? Weather seems to not affect the performance for me unless its a severe cloud burst, currently snow squall with snow in on dish........good signal and good speed: ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..:::::::::: Download Connection is:: 2185 Kbps about 2.2 Mbps (tested with 3064 kB) Download Speed is:: 267 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2009/11/27 - 7:41am Bottom Line:: 38X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 3.84 sec Tested from a 3064 kB file and took 11.487 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 146.61 % faster than the average for host (DirecWay.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-Z08D9MRP1 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; MDDC; .NET CLR 3.0.30729) -
However as stated in the contract.......we still need payment.

Believing your getting that speed is even more azzn9 than telling WildBlue customers not to use or test during peak usage hours. Keep working with the "scientist".....the truth is yet to be revealed. NOTE: dont forget to sign out when testing during peak hours

HughesNet response to my BBB complaint
fikester replied to guitarjim's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
I sent executive care another email complaint today.....my speeds are again starting to slow in the evening hours. Didn't figure the fix would last....might just be the downlink cell my area is on? uploads stay the same for the most part still around 250kbps.The downloads are going as low as 300kbps. -
HUGHESNET HN9000 SLOWDOWN / HOST CHANGE
fikester replied to compuguybna's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
For me last two or three evenings about 7pm est it has slowed down to around 800kbps......? The firmware was changed this morning on mine. Still way better than before. Seems back to normal now: :::.. HUGHESNET HN9000 SLOWDOWN / HOST CHANGE
fikester replied to compuguybna's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
The HN9000 is slowing down again in the evening.....still at advertised "typical" speeds, but they must be adding more customers than bandwidth available. So again three steps forward two steps back? I also noticed they are tweaking with the firmware again, then rolled it back. -
This very well may take 7-14 days for a response, but you will get one.....be patient and know your facts when demanding a fix. Do not pussy foot around about asking for free service until the issue is fixed etc...
-
I'm surprised Hughes is not offering you Spaceway3 / HN9000. Speeds are much better on the Ka band and if you complain to the right people, equipment, install, and no contract at zero cost....unless you are already under contract that may not fly. Should work unless you have a line of sight issue to 95w.
-
what plan are you on and what modem is being used? very unusual a transfer to upper level is made unless they find an issue or you have run speed test for three consecutive days at morning, afternoon and evening times?
-
looks like that beam is open as of today on both zips...... however still not providing advertised speeds? (I was told specifically at no given times would speeds upload or download fall below 80% of advertised package speeds.) I'm severely confused on how some state that they have had over 36 months of trouble free service with WB?
-
yes, always seems to be a delay in the launch, testing..... very likely to be a delay somewhere. once read a scientist remark , guess it don't matter much what you home might sell for? the housing market is just booming right now

quote from article: http://www.multichannel.com/article/356630-ViaSat_Beams_Up_WildBlue.php I'm just amazed the scientist never even hint about bandwidth problems guess until 2011 WildBlue, surf the web late night or early AM and don't forget to keep paying the bill option 1: suggest to customers to avoid using the system during peak hours, test system only during off peak hours....make like everything is smooth sail. option 2: heavy bandwidth use during peak hours (7-10pm est) really drag the system down, file complaints, post slow speeds, really make some noise, demand refunds, class action lawsuits,....... maybe something will get done about it? option 3: watch fikester surf with Spaceway3

Is there a limit of usage daily or monthly with your wireless service?
-
went from HN7000S to HN9000.....(reason for upgrade was slow evening speeds, and constant 30k uploads after 7am) after the upgrade again slow evening speed for about 3hours. Oct 6 Hughes called me said they were adding more hubs and assured me the speeds would be better in 30days or less.......they now are at or above package speeds. (just in case a scientist might be reading, yes even during the forbidden hours 8pm-10pm est.)

without looking im around 40 days installed Ka band equipment 9-22-09 ......several years on Horizons-1 with Ku band
