  1. hey just what you think about this package? it destroys a T-1 35 Mbps downstream and 10 Mbps upstream (increased from 5/5), for $169.95 a month with a dynamic IP address and $209.95 with up to five static IP addresses.
  2. my friend wants to split the 10/50 but the 5/50 is $90 a month which i would take cause i pay about $165 now
  3. i will cancel the dsl and keep the cable for a while to compare the fiber 30 mb with cable 30 mb and then i will kill the cable and go right for the 10/50 plan they are gonna have by the time i get it.
  4. try it cause some network cards you dont need a crossover cable but if you do you can get 1 for a few bucks
  5. my isp has a bad hop count but the ping times are good and sharky your pings are ok and the same hops you got timed out are the same as me cause you have OOL from the looks of your trace. 13. that is more than 15/2 package or its cached cause your not going to get 5 mb above your cap no matter who the provider is. didnt verizon make the 15 mb package go upto 20 now?
  14. make the send window bigger and the upload will go up on these kind of tests which makes them somewhat inaccurate
  15. hey Tommie make your DefaultSendWindow 8192000 and watch what you get. with this test you have to have the right settings with cablenut or any other tweak program for it to be accurate
  16. yea it gives fake results if your settings for cablenut are too high. if you set the defaultsendwindow too high it will make your results look like this. Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 6.33Mb/s <<this should read around 768 kb as i have the 768/6000 running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 5.12Mb/s these tests below are not accurate if you dont have the right settings just like the verizon test http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/ http://cemp1.switch.ch/network/performance/web100/tcpbw100.html http://web100.rit.edu:7123/ http://speedtest.umflint.edu/ http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ http://netspeed.stanford.edu/ http://jlab4.jlab.org:7123/
  17. it showed pretty accurate results for me but i think i can make this say a different speed then i have and i'll try it in a second

  22. for playing he has planty of upload and download but might lag a bit to servers far away in another country. as for hosting you probably cant do more that 4 to 6 people.
  23. why dont they just upgrade since most ISP's are doing it? my isp more than doubled the speeds we have going from 1/10 to 2/15 and 2/30 mb. i havent heard anything but maybe someone who has comcast can say why they dont just upgrade the speeds like they were going to.
