  1. I'm getting 950 KB/s downloading through firefox. However with Getright running and using 4 connections to the same server it jumps to 1.74 MB/s using about 445 KB/s on each server.
  2. 4741 and 634 are fairly odd numbers for advertised speeds. so let's go with 5000 and 768. and then i'd tell you to try one of these files.. you never stated whether you use PPPoe so I included files for both 1500 and 1492 MTU's.
  3. I'd say outstanding as you are 12% over your advertised speed. most people only get 90% of their speed.
  4. Also I went over your recent test history and noticed something. you are testing with different size files every time. That's a sign you are just clicking the "Smartest". Don't, Instead you should click the 2992 test. that will choose a larger test if needed. I am concerned about the huge variaton in speeds thouigh you have gone from 4800 kbps to as low as 100 kbps in same day. Almost like something was using your connection for something else. When was the last tme you ran a virus scan, adware scanners etc. When testing you have to make sure that nothing else is using the connection, no downloading, no browsing, no windows update, no messengers, no p2p applications.
  5. I think I found the problem with the huge variation in your speeds. Look at your traceroute especially hops 7, through 10. Do you see the huge spike in ping times? it reaches 2364 ms at one point. That's 2.364 Seconds. Times for that should normally be in the 30-50 ms range. with total trip time being only 200 ms on average. and Bandwidth is limited by latency. I'd stay with the settings you have now though, they are optimized for the rest of the internet and being a little slower through a few bad nodes isn't too bad. Makes me wonder if your connection was in use when you did the trace, were you downloading, using a p2p app, browsing the web etc. while doing the trace route?
  6. The OP's problem is he's limited by basic roadrunner's 384 upload. or even worse if he has Roadrunner lite limited by a 128 upload and only a 256 download. Those aren't designed to handle game servers. I'm sure I could host the same game with ease though
  7. One question, before getting DSL did you use a dial up modem? if your registry still has the settings for the modem that is the exact reason for your slow connection. for a fix we'd have to know which package you have, meaning your advertised donload and upload speeds.
  8. Which one depends on the advertised speeds of your connection. What does your ISP say you should haved for a download and upload speed? You're on verizon and you most likely aren't a FIOS customer I'd say you are on a 3000/768 connection. choose the file that most closely matches that or try the attached file:
  9. Yes I, agree first step is to remove all viruses, and spyware from your computer. That means getting rid of AOL as quickly as possible. It's the largest known virus and cause of slow connections in the world. First of all anyone with a broadband connection is just plain stupid to install the AOL virus on their computer. and those restricted to dial up there are literally thousands of far cheaper and some even free ISP's that don't gather info on it's users to sell to the highest bidder. AOL promotes Identity theft.
  10. a good place to start: www.google.com also a few years in a elementary school grammar class would be nice.
  11. Yes it could be peak usage or one other reason, since you have a router, do you have a second computer connected to your router? if so that one may be using the bandwidth for some reason. I did check your test history and for most of last night you were getting download test speeds of 4500-5000 which are all excellent for your connection. Also a big factor in overall speed is latency, if it normally takes say 30 ms for you to reach a site you could easily download at full speed. however if that same site due to net congestion etc now takes 300 ms to reach you may lose 2/3 of your speed. easily maybe more.
  12. That's exactly why it increased my speed so much. I'm on a 15 mbps connection. but windows default RWIN for XP can only support a 5mbps connection on average. so using cablenut to adjust RWIN allows me to get near maximum.
  13. Upload looks good but download is still low, try powercycling the modem. and test again.
  14. ok do this First take your router completely out of the connection, connect directly to the modem for one test and do both upload and download tests. then post both results here.
  15. Stupid question but are you browsing the web through a proxy server?
  16. OK go into your device manager, (right click my computer, properties, hardware tab, Device manager, network adapters, choose your current adapter, Right click -properties, Advanced Tab, Check to make sure Linkspeed/duplex is set to Auto.
  17. Also were you sure to reboot your computer after applying the settings file.. that's most important.
  18. ok do a trace route to testmy.net and post it here please, also are you using a router, and is your modem connected to your computer via ethernet or USB? also post an upload test. Also try the 2992 size download test. the 748 is way too small for 5 mb.
  19. recheck previous post I was attaching it as you posted
  20. OK i'm guessing you're on Basic Roadrunner and you should use the following file in cablenut: please post a test after you reboot:
  21. Looks good seems your upload limit is 256 kbps and 250 out of that is outstanding. 97.6% of limit to be exact.
  22. yes, though I reccommend you try testing upload with a larger file. perhaps the 1013 kB one... 97 kB is too small for an accurate reading as even at dial up speeds it only takes 15-30 seconds to upload.
  23. best way is to do a trace route to a website you visit regularly like testmy while doing a fairly large download . that way it's trying to trace with a busy connection.
  24. It's not one of Vanburen's files, it's a custom made one using the j9zrl websites cablenut calculator. quick and easy to get settings for those odd speed combos. THe only major problem it has is it won't do calculations for any connection over 10Mbps, it assumes they are 10 Mbps. As for 513920 getting you a better result that's very possible as bandwidth is latency dependant. I usually design files with a 100ms latency, though if you are high latency 200 ms or even 500 ms may be needed.
  25. Hate to put it to you this way but your speeds are exactly what they should be for windows defaults. I'm guessing that through newsleecher 90% of what was being download was headers and text posts. that's the only way possible for you to reach 1200-1800 KiloBytes per second. Through compression.. where as the test from testmy is a non-compressable file. and shows true speed. But i'm going to go with your statement that you are on a 6000/300 conection and have you try this file and see if it makes a difference:
