also on the same page as the CPU clock settings should be DRAM Timing settings, you have to set that to manual for it to allow you to change CPU clock settings.
-
The BIOS can't be blocked. What probably happened is there was a BIOS password accidentally set. To fix this put a jumper across the jumpers for clearing the password. you can find it in this diagram: Make sure the computer is OFF and unplugged when you do so.
-
Hmmmmmmm.... 20.1 million people that willingly have a spamming, pop up causing Virus on their computers and are paying $25 a month to have their computers ruined and connections slowed down. Talk about Idiots.
-
Really stupid question, but after making the changes in the BIOS were you sure to hit F10 and save them then restart the computer?
-
OK let's go step by step; Enter your BIOS, choose Advanced Chipset Features, then CPU & PCI Bus Control, then CPU Host/AGP/PCI Clock and set to Default, also set Auto Detect PCI/DIMM Clk to Enabled.
-
just change your FSB from 200 to 266. To do that enter the BIOS and looks for the Clock settings, change it to 266 or even better an Auto setting if your BIOS has one. then save settings and reboot. One clue, next time don't reset CMOS unless it's a last resort.

Definitely Works, Here are my "before and afters" Before cablenut: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 10039 Kbps about 10 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1226 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Dec 22 2005 09:41:57 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 179X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.84 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 131.26 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-A29QNJD6E :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1325 Kbps about 1.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 162 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Thu Dec 22 2005 09:43:30 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 24X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 6.32 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 327.42 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-9S6EUTMPN After Cablenut: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 14326 Kbps about 14.3 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1749 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Dec 22 2005 09:52:11 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 256X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.59 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 229.94 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-QTE1MR34C :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1927 Kbps about 1.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 235 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Thu Dec 22 2005 09:50:38 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 34X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 4.36 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 521.61 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-8KUAWI71T As you can see I get a 47.2% increase in download speed and a 45.43% increase in Upload over Windows XP default settings. Not bad at all for squeezing every bit out of a connection. As a result I go from using 67% of my bandwidth down and 66% up to using 95.5% down and 96.93% up.

hey it's ok if you get right package... such as mine: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 14655 Kbps about 14.7 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1789 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Wed Dec 21 2005 08:09:19 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 262X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.57 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 237.83 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-MDHTKUL9Z Which BTW is my best test ever and 97.7% of my cap.

Actually Cablenut settings can cause that much of a difference. Take me for example, This is a Download result with the "standard" 64240 RWIN: http://www.testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=test_id&q=UCW79N50R and here is one after using Cablenut: http://www.testmy.net/s_engine.php?type=test_id&q=%09X23Z4UFSM As you can see there is a 339.80 % or 3.398 Times faster difference.
-
it could be better, what Plan are you on and what is your current RWIN?
-
amazing what ridiculously high tcp window size settings will do...

Who wants to be at the average? I want to be at least 2.5 to 3 times faster on download and 5 times faster on upload. Of course My connection is the fastest offered by my ISP. With most other customers opting for or stuck at the 5/384. -
Your ISP was probably doing testing for future speed upgrades. You just got lucky and caught part of it.
-
I bet the OP would be jealous of my legal 15/2 Cable connection Who needs uncapping?
-
RainMaka: 2.8 mbps out of 3 is good speed, it's 93.33% of your advertised speed. that is allowing for overhead, loss from the distance between you and testmy's servers etc. You're doing fine. most would kill for only a 6.7% loss.

Here's what the ultimate RR package gets you: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 14326 Kbps about 14.3 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1749 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Sat Dec 10 2005 20:55:22 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 256X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.59 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 227.98 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-GIE3XLYNR :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1840 Kbps about 1.8 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 225 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Sat Dec 10 2005 21:03:49 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 33X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 4.55 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 489.74 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-IUOJCS40P

On a slightly off topic but relevant side: tampa are you aware that you can upgrade to a 10/1 speed for $10 more a month? Only requirement is having The Digital TV box. If you do, I'd call brighthouse and see what your options are if you're looking for more speed. Or if you've already got the Digital Phone and Digital Cable, you can opt for a 15/2 plan.

Rainmaka Try these settings in cablenut: DefaultReceiveWindow = 384000 DefaultSendWindow = 32768 DisableAddressSharing = 1 InitialLargeBufferCount = 200 InitialMediumBufferCount = 480 InitialSmallBufferCount = 640 LargeBufferSize = 819200 MaxFastTransmit = 64000 MediumBufferSize = 150400 Priority Boost = 0 SmallBufferSize = 12800 TransmitWorker = 32 FastSendDatagramThreshhold = 4096 EnableFastRouteLookup = 1 EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1 IgnorePushBitsOnReceives = 0 GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 113880 MaxFreeTcbs = 8000 MaxHashTableSize = 16384 MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000 SackOpts = 1 SynAttackProtect = 1 Tcp1323Opts = 1 TcpLogLevel = 1 TcpMaxDupAttacks = 3 TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100 TcpMaxHalfOpenRetired = 80 TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460 TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460 TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30 TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0 TcpWindowSize = 113880 MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 20 MaxConnectionsPerServer = 10 DefaultTimeToLive = 64 DefaultUserTOSSetting = 0 TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6 DefaultTOSValue = 240

that may be true for you, however his ISP doesn't offer T3 lines like the one you are on.. so that speed is very unlikely for him to achieve btw try this test: http://www.testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=000&out_src=20MB

Not bad for 15/2 FIOS, Here's mine from RoadRunner Tampa Bay: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 14326 Kbps about 14.3 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1749 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Fri Nov 25 2005 18:18:53 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 256X faster than 56K 1MB download in 0.59 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 245.54 % faster than the average for host (rr.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-0MFU8LQNZ

in all honesty you're already surpassing your cap by quite a bit. Remember the Testmy speed test is an average rate over the entire download, in order to hit 2999 you have to over 3000 for most (90%) of the test. download Netstat live from analog X and use it to monitor your speed during the test.

Let's go simle Try the ccs file I have attached.
-
Try the attached File in CableNut
-
TCPOptomizer is a good tool. And you're right it's good for tuning Download, however there is only one thing I've found that can tune Upload and that is CableNut it's the only one that allows adjustment of the SendWindow.
-
You should only use Ethernet, never use USB unless you Don't have an ethernet card. And never use both on the same modem.

Looking for Road Runner Speed Posting Here
cdf216 replied to SummerEagle's topic in RoadRunner (Time Warner Cable)
.s1 please disregard this as I realized you're stuck with basic cable due to it being provided by your apartment complex if I remember right. For the others here in the Tampa Area though: It only takes 3 of their services for 15/2, Converter box, Digital Phone and RR. As for the 10/1 all you need is the converter box and Roadrunner. Unless you are running strictly basic cable you are eligible for at least the 10/1 package. If you have the DVR you're set after a simple phone call.
