Dude with the current cable technogoly, they have enough bandwidth to allocate 1000 cable modems per node a 30Mb connection.. YOUR ALMOST THERE!!! it just sucks how they keep speeds low and prices high.. they have increased their speed 3 times over the past 2 years... and we have NO WHERE NEAR the speed COVAD is offering, and I'm pretty sure Comcast has way more Computing power and Bandwidth than COVAD..

Me too I think comcast is out just to make more money, more speed increases mean more money over time, but when the Internet2 comes out in 3 years all isp's are going to have to have at least 10-15Mb connection to keep up with the change-over and the upgrades of the entire infrastructure...

Damn your connection is tight already, what else do u need? is that a cable connection? and how the hell do u get that kind of speed??? i Have COMCAST the biggest cable/internet retailer, they barely give you 6Mb connection with all the caps..

how could you utilize that much bandwidth, even if your speed is that fast most websites won't let you download nowhere near those speeds. You can only download as fast as someone can upload to you.. but Maybe the large bandwidth could go good with file sharing programs, maybe you can get more multiple sources at once and utilize your bandwidth... other than that i believe a 2Mb/768k line would suffice...

Comcast DOES NOT ALLOW any web hosting through user end pc's.. you can have them host a website for you and you update it through ftp.. but the cable network is not optimized for that kind of traffic.. And may never be...

there are generally no caps on bandwidth, Comcast's gateway only allows so much data travel per continuous stream from each user on the network,, so constant large amounts of data flow ie. hosting a website would be a violation of your customer agreement, automatically Comcast's D.H.C.P. server blocks your modem and flag your account...

nothing too much they really don't care why should you? just giving useful information to those who plan to upgrade their speeds.. why upgrade if they are going to give their customers additional bandwidth?

HI, I'm a Data tech at Comcast, and hear we are upgrading the speeds now to 10mb/1024mb come the end of january, basic service will be the 6mb service if you only have internet, and 8mb if you have cable and internet, if you already pay 10 dollars extra for the 8mb speed you will be increased to the 10mb speed, The 10mb speed WILL ONLY be offered if you subscribe to Digital Cable and Internet, and already pay the 10 dollars extra for the 8mb speed tier.
