I will be working on setting up some members only testing on the new server we just got online (thanks to the Rev) -- I am very busy right now but I did just test from the new server to TestMy.net and only pulled down 10Mbps :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 10152 Kbps about 10.2 Mbps (tested with 12160 KB) Download Speed is:: 1239 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 181 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 0.83 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=49WFNQH8G It does have a 100Mbps uplink and ping to TestMy.net is only 7ms -- so I think I just need to optimize this bitch (it is a windows server... we setup a windows server because I have always wanted to try a windows server) I will give you all more info on this new deal tomorrow, sorry I don't have too much time right now.

From now on, My Daily Charter update!
CA3LE replied to Indestructable's topic in Show off your speed
Okay.. tweak done... I personally got the same score for 3MB test as I did for the 6MB test, so it's accurate to 5.5Mbps from what I can see... I have set the forwarding to forward to the 6MB test at 6Mbps (after testing with 2992) -- and forward to 12160KB test after 8Mbps. My results below. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 5466 Kbps about 5.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB) Download Speed is:: 667 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 98 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 1.54 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=S0N9WI465 :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 5494 Kbps about 5.5 Mbps (tested with 5983 KB) Download Speed is:: 671 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 98 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 1.53 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=F8469AYOX -

gotcha (does anyone remember that game.. gotcha! That game RULED)

I have to also factor in the cut and paste deal, test validation... once removed from the database the score will no longer be able to be pulled up. But I guess upon lookup if a score is not in the DB I could give a message like "No results found, this does not necessarily mean the score you are trying to validate is fake, TestMy.net only keeps non-member stats for X months" -- The reason this is a factor is because alot of people post those validation links in other forums (that was the whole reason I made that... to market the site ) and if those links die too quickly it would be a bad thing. But I think, myself, that two months should be good... and 1 year for members, doing this now (back to Dec 1st) would prune 1.2 million records and leave me with 420,000 records..... which is still a buttload to work with. Dealing with a database this big sucks because to execute a command that effects the whole database takes a VERY long time to do. Keep voting..
-
User input needed, my database is aproching 2 million records and I need to start thinking about what I am going to do... If I do trash scores it will only be for non-members - once signed up your scores would stay in the DB forever (or almost forever).

oh... that's what that means

did it feel good to get that out?

From my host, in response to my support ticket. (jerickson-01/14/05-14:19): RFO: 1-17-2005 Network Performance Degradation This morning at approximately 10:10am CST a link failure between DLLSTX3 and DLLSTX2 began causing performance degradation across portions of The Planet's network. Intermittent latency was experienced by some customers for varying periods of time during the network condition. Upon notification of the link failure, The Planet's Network Engineers were on hand to determine the point of failure and correct the issue. Network conditions were restored to normal at approximately 1:45pm CST, and the link will continue to be monitored for detection of any possible future problems. Future Mitigation: The Network Engineering department will be reviewing this incident to determine the source of the failure, and should the issue require further repair notification will be made 48 hours in advance of any scheduled maintenance windows. Thanks for your patience.

I emailed theplant (put in a ticket) It seems to be routing, and must just get worse durring internet rush hour. Attached is a screenshot of a downloaded file from TestMy.net (with the route to my house.. yours may be different) and a download from Sin0cide.com hosted on my same server. As you can see although sin0cide.com is on the same server it has a different route and is running HELLA slow (same file, same time). (the speed from TestMy.net is a healthy burst, my actual line speed isn't that fast... I wish... it's a fluke, happens every now and then to me... The point is that I max my connection out.)

Dude, diesels WAY... WAY... WAY... out perform hybrids in fuel efficiency. There are diesels that can pull down almost 80 mpg. Now the Toyota Prius is rated at 60 mpg, but in real world tests it has show 35-40 tops... But who cares, screw being efficient... I can't drive 55!

I just made some changes to Apache, we will see if the changes will speed up things around here. I did notice a couple of erors in my http.conf that may have to do with it. I am in no means the once to benchmark this right now, my connection is running slow everywhere right now. Let me know if you all notice any difference durring peak hours.

All the 'fluff' you speak of is very small, and once loaded once should then be cached. Most of the images and such are VERY small in size and don't stress the server when loaded. There are a total of 228 images (minus the smilies and avatars) that make up this entire forum.. alot of which are rarely seen, and they are ALL in total of only 100KB. I personally have a very quick access time with this new forum "Page created in 0.446 seconds with 11 queries." "Page created in 0.32 seconds with 20 queries." "Page created in 0.629 seconds with 20 queries." -- hell, run a google query on "testmy.net" and it will output "Results 1 - 10 of about 10,800 for "testmy.net". (0.54 seconds)". Thank you for the suggestion... as for connection speed, I am researching the slow downs...

True for the most part now-a-days. Alot of drag racers will stick with the auto over a manual (even though you do have more powertrain loss with an automatic because the torque converter only spins 9 times for every 10 spins of the flywheel) because you get more consistant runs (no fuckin' up) -- My IROC-Z is an auto, and I almost always ran the same time. My EVO VIII is a manual and though it's a WAY faster car than the Camaro my time from run to run can differ greatly based upon many driving factors (much more touchy). But my for my IROC-Z I would still rather have a manual if I was given a choice... and if it was for JUST the track I would have to go with a 2 speed HI-LOW... this way you still put the power down, but keep consistancy from run to run. I am not an expert... but I have driven a Nascar -- as for PURE power... pure SPEED. How many Nascars have AUTO? How many Formula1 Racers have AUTO? How many Porche Series racers have AUTO? How many Rally Cars have AUTO? --- NONE! Because you have ten times the control with a manual when it comes to racing... and you deliver more power to the floor over an AUTO. But I do kinda miss driving auto , I drive the EVO all the time now (not that i mind at all ) because the AUTO on my IROC needs work... Ironic this post happened to come up!

Are we going to get 1000 members before the end of the year?
CA3LE replied to MICROWAVE's topic in General Discussion
TOLD YA SO! You were doubting 1000 by january 1st and now it's barely the 11th and it's already 1400 Now, for January it looks like a total of about 720+ new members, at least 500 more from the date of this post. 2 more months I expect 1200+ new members per month, we will see how my prediction does... lots of people to talk to. -
Thank you, I try man
