As for your results... if your throttle starts out mad slow like that then there is no way that I know of to design a test that will give you killer scores... without making HUGE test sizes that will blow my servers bandwidth off the chart. AND your connections seems to be doing th opposite of what the rest of the CABLE internet community's do... you see, most cable users BURST out the gate then slow down... not gradually go up. You may have a problem ~ and it might be how you have your NIC card settings in windows.. or even your nic card itself ~~~ also I don't design my site around the 1% of the public that has something wierd. I have received emails "Hey, you need to design a test that is 100% NO JAVA" or "Hey you should include [insert random mozilla feature here]" or "hey you should make some special satellite tools" ~~~~ but the truth is, I am not going to spend hours of my life scripting something that only a handful of users will need... but if I can fit it in a much larger plan that will help the entire community then I will work that right into my plan

That is from a trunk line ... rules that will apply to a residential line don't in that world ... that is on a shared gigabit network.. if someone on the line is using alot of the upload bandwidth it can happen. hehe, dude that line is primo bandwidth ~~ I have uploaded a file on that line at well over 100 Mbps, that was just durring rush hour at the office ~~ that is what I use to test my servers connection speed Wish I had that much bandwidth at home.

(you have to make sure and tell them that it is 'going out everynow and then' also... otherwise they won't credit your account because cable providers never guarentee connection speed) ~~ Poor guy... slow connection... at least you can get on the road and show those rice burners that there is NO REPLACEMENT for DISPLACEMENT! yea that is pretty good also (I have a link to the speedguide TCP Optimizer on the main page) ~~~ for a while though the DSLReports one did not work for people on satellite so i never linked to it... I have been thinking about developing a tool like that myself for TestMy.net. - Damon

Have you tried the TCP Optimizer on the front page of this site ~~~ that might help you... And by the way... a very large amount of cable techs are friggen tards so don't bother calling them licensed (though there are some really good ones) ~~~ I used to be one myself about 3 years ago... at the time I was 18-19, and I was the one that everyone called for help... 30-50 year old dudes that needed a 19 year old dude to teach them half the stuff these guys called me one was simple ~~~ but anyway, like I said there are a few good cable guys out there ~~~ If the optimizer doesn't work, let me know your computers specs... and if you are going though USB or ethernet ~~ (you might want to try switching to the oposite to see if either your USB or ethernet adaptor is at fault.. ethernet would be the more likely of the two to have a problem 'going out') The optimizer is a good thing to try first because if you have ever downloaded or tried any "MAKE YOUR SHIT FASTER!" type stuff... speedguide's prog will fix that ~~ here is a little post I wrote on it http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?p=379&highlight=tcp+optimizer#379 Although it is extreamly difficult to solve a problem like yours online, I always like to try.

see that's why you always partition your hard drive to have like 20% system side... and leave the rest of the space for your files... How big is your Harddrive ... ~ you don't have to loose everything by the way... go buy a harddrive .. transfer everything over to that... format the old one (partition it right this time, so that if you need to format in the future... it's easy and you won't lose anything)....... THEN, format the new harddrive after all your persoanl files are off and you are satisfied, and return it to the store... ~~ kinda messed up way to do things, but it works and the store won't think anything of it... just say the hard drive was acting up and you want your $ back

I get all this friggen traffic... YET, I only have 500 posts to my forum that has been up a year! That is friggen pathetic! But Forums are extreamly hard to start! But once that snow ball gets big enough and starts growing too fast... ima need to get more mods

HAHAHHAHA, Emachines ... Sorry but the XP 2000+ will blow the celeron out of the water. Don't get an Nvidia 5700 ~~ get a Radeon 9800 or a 9800 pro, I have personally benchmarked the 9800 & 9800Pro, 5700 and 5900 ~~~ nothing can touch ATI's higher end cards... NOTHING! Here are a couple of posts i have written... http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?p=103&highlight=9800#103 http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?p=435&highlight=9800#435 I run an AMD 2100+ ... and swear by AMD and ATI both, My 2100+ is old news right now (got it a very long time ago) but still I have yet to see any of my friends and co-workers touch my performance, some of them have 2.5-3GHz P4 machines (and my chip is only running at about 1.7GHz, I have 1Gb of ram, Asus board and Radeon 9800 Pro) ~ Stick with AMD and ATI they will never let you down. If you do get a lower end card though (in the $100-$130 range) I would get a NVidia card, they do have that market pretty locked down. By the way... get yo azz some DDR memory BRA! ~~~ You can't even image the difference! And stop mixing and matching memory chips, you need to have 128/256/512/1024 ~~ keep it uniform and your system will benifit ... take out the mis-matching 64MB chip you have in there and run with 256MB, you will see a difference even though you will have less memory, the computer will be able to write to the RAM easier. (I would persoanlly just make key chains out of all that old memory and get ONE nice 512MB - that will dramatically boost you ~~ even more if your board can take DDR and you get yourself a 512 DDR)

Yea... sometimes a good 'ol format and re-install will clear up any problems ~~~ but this is coming from someone that formats like every two months (I love a clean computer)

When was the last time you formatted ... windows XP?

That would be the best one ... you may have a problem with your NIC card ~~ what are your system specs
