Awesome that you have 10 mbps... sad that you are too far away to really enjoy it 100% By the way... the upload speed test is still a work in progress. There will be larger packets soon and it will be much more accurate. I am the first to admit that it is a little bit off But here is a link to a 1MB upload test I have hidden. http://www.testmy.net/cgi-bin/u_load.cgi?sss=1024&go_html=go_html&ta=0

Why thank you ~~ no there was no real downtime. After I uploaded the new design though I did see a couple things I wanted to clean up and a few people got error 500 while I was uploading additions.. but she is all online now. Let me know if you see any bugs. I think you will all notice it is a much more reliable cleaner test. As always let me know of any suggestions that might make the site more functional. - Damon By the way this is a poll for an update made in July.

It was HALF that.. and your on cable.. ouch ~~ looks like your upload speed is right where it should be now though. ::: Upload Stats ::: Connection is: 233 kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 193 KB) Upload Speed is: 28 Kb/sec Auth Code: 253496 (validate a http://www.testmy.net/) Bottom Line: 4 times faster than 56K you can upload 1MB in 37 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_up.cgi?num=253496&kbps=233&gen=gen theres me...

I have renovated a bit.. not only looks wise but I also made one major change. When / if you score over what I think is acceptable for the test size you have chosen you will automatically be redirected to the next size up. This increases accuracy a whole lot ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 3911 kbps about 4 Mbps (tested with 1544 KB) Download Speed is: 477 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2058666 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 70 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_dn.cgi?num=2058666&kbps=3911&gen=gen So you don't get a burst score... you get a nice steady download score.

Everyone has congestion problems 'cept us in phoenix ... but from what I can tell your in Chicago ... cable plant is a bit older over there , sit tight though... couple more years and the will have that congestion problem cleaned up a bit. You will still have it, don't get me wrong... but you won't have any of that "1Mbps lower!" stuff anymore. post again.. let's see what good 'ol Comcast in Chicago can do

Well sheeeeeit that's probably because your on Hewlett-Packard's friggen monster backbone (I know all... I see all... ) hahaha. Also shows ya how fast my server is to be able to serve to you that fast oh yea it's wicked fast!! Nice score - Damon ~~~ this is all I got man ~~~ ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 4448 kbps about 4 Mbps (tested with 772 KB) Download Speed is: 543 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2066721 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 79 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_dn.cgi?num=2066721&kbps=4448&gen=gen

Much better than typical typical would be under 3000 kbps ... your running very nice

Friend from work f-in' 'round on my site
-
damn for reals... me too... Mine is like that at work too. By the way everyone, it says "download stats" but that is actually an upload score (I just mistyped when writing the script) ~~~ I can tell from the auth code ~~~ I'm going to fix that. - Damon

You should be getting that speed NETwide... except with your provider... where you will get just under the advertised speed. True? yes... no...
-
Yep, that's why you don't want to test off your providers server ~~ test here, on the results page there is a cut and paste thing... use it and post me your score like this ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 4547 kbps about 5 Mbps (tested with 772 KB) Download Speed is: 555 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2068206 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 81 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_dn.cgi?num=2068206&kbps=4547&gen=gen
-
DAMN... ouch ~~ what is the advertised speed?
-
niiiice ~~ modem reboot can do the trick sometimes
-
are you talking KB/sec or kbps ... please rephrase the question
-
very nice.. you look like me
-
much better than it was... was your speed bad before?? ~~ can see your on good 'ol ComCast ~~ looks like they are meeting their 3mbps speed quote
-
just a little added thang for ppl who have scores off the chart ~~ also re-wrote the upload script to post like the download script... blah blah... CABLE RULES!
-
Results page is changed a little bit if you didn't notice ~~ I am still running fast as a mofo also the cut and paste thing section as the bottom of the results page has an added link now so people can just click to check auth (I really don't know why I didn't just do that in the first place) (this is from other test results besides my screenshot above, just barely different scores, damn this is accurate! ) ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 4401 kbps about 4 Mbps (tested with 772 KB) Download Speed is: 537 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2066016 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 79 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_dn.cgi?num=2066016&kbps=4401&gen=gen Also the AUTH check has changes slightly ~~ blah blah blah NjoY!

thank you

depends upon who did the install... if you are in an apartment complex it is quite common for you to share a line off a tap. Actually the tap that the line comes off of is a splitter itself ~~~ all a cable system is is a system of splitters and amps. But when you split you lose signal ~~ 3.5 DBmv off each spilt ~~ if it is a three way, that is basically two two way splitters put together so on each leg you will lose 7 on the first leg, 7 on the 2nd leg and 3.5 on the last leg ... go ahead and draw it up ... a two way splitter with another two way on one of the legs of the first .. getting complex yet .. hope not... well, anyway... sometimes at the end of a tap there is too much signal .. and modems hate to have too much signal (and signal strength does NOT play into how fast you will run by the way ~~ quality of signal will effect that ~~ unless your signal is far too high or far too low ~~ there is a happy medium) ~~ sometimes during install a tech will NEED to add a splitter sometimes even when there is nothing on the other leg ... this is to drop the signal to an operational level... there is actually a one way splitter that does this that is called a DC-6 (6DBmv drop) or a DC-9 (9DBmv drop) well the point to all of this is that if splitting had any effect on your modem it would be drastic in most cases... like a totally inoperable modem ~~ splitting does however have a huge effect on analog quality .. but something like digital cable and high speed internet (which are both digital) are either there or not there ~~~ 010100001000100010100011011011001 ~~~ or (NOTHING) ~~~ write back if any more questions that I can overly elaborate on.... ahahahaha
