CA3LE got a reaction from zalternate in Clicking On Some Speed Testing Links Results In Error Page
    uuuuhh, annoying!

I seriously don't know what's causing this. For some reason the new version of IPB has taken liberties outside it's own directory. I mean, I call upon it all over the site but that doesn't mean it should be taking the liberties it's taking.

Anyways, I got a temp fix for this... this is a head scratcher and it's stressing me out too much right now. For some reason if you add an ampersand at the end of the URL it works. So future links are now being printed with this for now. I'll figure it out.

I'm pretty sure I know what's going on. It being a 64 bit windows machine I doubt it's a driver issue.

You need to go into your sound settings in the control panel and set the audio output device associated with the HDMI to default. This is most likely not set to default. Just look for audio devices in the control panel (or something along those lines), once opened you'll see all the audio devices on your computer. Click the one the one you want the audio to output to and apply the changes. I personally think that windows should do this for you but in many cases it doesn't... I mean, you just plugged it in, I think the computer would be safe in assuming that you want to use HDMI audio out if you just plugged it in. But oh well, it's little things like that why I no longer use Windows myself.

I'm not on a windows machine right now otherwise I'd give you more details. Let me know if this fixes the problem. If you have a hard time with the limited instructions I've given you let me know and when I get a minute I'll post some more details.

So basically, it just needs you go guide it into doing the right thing... it's like 99% there, you just have to tell it to play by default to HDMI.... I've found that once this is set once Windows 7 should remember and automatically do this for you when you plug HDMI in. ... but it's Windows so don't hold me to that

By the way, I'm not at all a Windows or Microsoft hater... Just stating the obvious, Windows can be unpredictable. Windows is a great OS for most people, just wasn't right for me anymore.

Wow, good question. That would be cool. Anybody know the answer to that for sure. Maybe I'll test that on my windows machine in a little bit and get back with you. Unless someone else answers this for us.

CA3LE reacted to Coolant in Download Speed Problem With Comcast
Hi, first post. I've been having pretty slow download speeds for the last two weeks on my iMac. I have Comcast internet and the official connection speed is supposed to be 1.5 MBs, but for the last two weeks it's been around 150 to 180 kbs. I have no idea why this is happening. I've called Comcast, they said the modem seems to be working fine (I have no router). I've scanned the computer for spyware, viruses, etc. I just did a download test on here and it accurately reflects the slow speed I'm getting right now (unlike speedtest.net or other sites). Any tips or suggestions? I have no idea what to do next. I'm going to call Comcast one more time and if they can't fix this I'm just going to have to get DSL.

Glad you like it... I personally hated SMF 2 so that's why I switched over to IPB. Thanks for letting me know of MYBB but I've paid for IPB and I'm really happy with it so we'll be running this for a while.

I've never really like vB that much. It was cool back in the day but I've heard of allot of users hating the new version.

Stick around, I have allot of new stuff coming down the line. When all is said and done the entire site, including the speedtests will be new. I'll most likely offer the old version of the tests for a few years to anyone who doesn't like change. About 60-65% of the traffic here is repeat visitors so I figure I must be doing something right... but it's 2010 and time for the latest and greatest. I've completely rewritten the site about four times in the sites history and I have a bunch of ideas of how I can do some things better... not to mention each year the bar on my programming skills gets raised. I know at least 10 times what knew the last time I did a major rework. So the new tests should be pretty sweet.

Once I finish my brainstorm and get a plan together the code should fall together fairly quick... I'll throw it in beta (for our registered users to test) then once we're happy we'll get it launched. I have allot of work ahead of me.

    Thanks for the feedback,
    -Damon
