Those were the days. I had bought this comp off ebay and got sat and studied the revs settings. Comp had xp pro which I soon discovered was and illegal copy. I knew how to work around and update etc, but there came a time that my workaround wouldn't let me update any longer, and somehow my comp began to malfunction. Since then I put the legal xphome back on the comp and been trying to speed back up. I seem to average 1.4 to 2.2. but everything seems pretty constant so I'm afraid to tamper with my settings. :::.. It seems to be my upload that kills me. I have the same setting on my mothers comp with the 6000 and she has none of the problems I have. I've also noticed that the 6000 is constant when you run the speed test and the 4000 isn't. It burst constantly but mine is faster at downloading. You can really notice on streaming content. I have two other comps here running off my conection and the pages do not react the same as mine, so I know something isn't set just right after I reformatted. If I keep digging I'm bound to strike gold. haha

I have to wonder about people who don't know their local officers. If there was anything I was needed for, they would show up drink a cup of coffee and we'd discuss everything. If I was in the wrong they'd know I'd surrender. You always have to wonder about folks who do everything in their power to hinder a policeman in the capacity he was hired to do. If people report bad cops their removed. Everyone wants to stand on the stump and holler, but never offer any help. People are wanting government to take care of them so government is going about it the way they understand. Everything in life begins at home.

dw4000--my comp--linksys--wifes comp--wireless laptop--for anyone who stops by and wants to use my comp. Like my grown children and my 7 year old who insists downloading nick-dis-msn-etc.

It may be unusual, but I have tcp loaded 2times I optimize and optimize the optimize. I've done my mothers comp the same way to get her speed up. She has the 6000 modem and couldn't stream till I discovered doing it twice by accident. Who knows, I surely don't.

I always try google the device I'm having trouble with. Find others with same problem and how they solved it. Then if no help I google the computer I'm using with problem I'm having. Can we have at least the comp brand and sound card? I also use headphones to test sound. Can unplug from mp3 and know they work. Someone on here is sure to help you.

I've been having a lot of computer probs lately and couldn't find recovery disk and drivers. Went to hp and purchased new ones, so this weekend I'm reformatting. Hope to achieve greater speeds.

I thx all of ya and I'm going to try reformat and start fresh. Bought this one used on ebay and had a good run for 14 months so if it fails I'll start new. In case I don't answer for few days ya'll know I'mm working on it. I do have older comps around so if this one can't recover I configure another for dway.

I don't waste space with restore. I can only go back 2 weeks. My safe mode quit in oct. I didn't get dway till Jan. I joined this site when referred by a friend to fix my sat to work better. Started networking Feb. Tough ride. Have bad habit leaving comp on. Come home to find 1st critical error March. Didn't seem to cause any problems so ignored it.I've tried all mic problem solve for IE6 to no avail. Like preveously stated Opera was smoking fast so I ignored everything else. Now that snake has bit me so I triing to figure my best route to make backups that I can use with success. Well I've bored you'all enough, thx.

FallowEarth I hit f8 before windows load. No matter which safe mode I choose comp freezes. According to windows event codes I've googled I need to uninstall .net framework and reenstall manually. Also IE6 needs rework. I've tried with xppro cd to do repaires but no luck. I've been using opera with great success till last week, now it to is so slow loading pages. Same with firefox.My speed test will run 1800 and page will take 10 to 15 sec to load.I know I'm going to have to format but last time I did a major backup of my harddrive programs I can't access the cds., says it can't find what program to open with. I can't to this day access them. I used nero to burn the backups but can't get nero to open them. Maybe did some encrip. and did't know it. I' m program illiterate.
