From every thing I've read burning slow give you a better end product. And from experience I know this to be true.

Turn off your real time scaner for the test.

Mine are always consistant except during peak hours in the evening with high traffic

If you got two Modem cables. One you got hooked up is the USB the other one that looks like a phone cable but over sized plugs goes into back of the computer provided your computer has one.(Ethernet Outlet)

You might try switching from USB to Ethernet it is a lot faster.

I don't know much about routers but every thing I've read here says they cut your speed down. There are plenty of people here that alot about routers sorry I can't help more

By your pricing I think you should be getting: Shaw High-Speed Internet offers a maximum download speed of 5 megabits per second (Mbps) and a maximum upload speed of 512 Kbps. If in doubt call them and ask that would take out all the guess work

I live at the end of the line like you. It doesn't happen all the time but occasionally it dose. I usually run around 3900 to 4200 my average is for 30 days is 3850.

I don't know why ca3le should set up somethig new seeing as this is the most accurate site on the internet. If you want something new set it up and share it with us. Just my opinion.

Glad I went with cable and not Dway like my son tried to talke me into. As crappy as it sounds from you all I would go back to dialup before Dway.

I copied a friends copy of Windows 98SE and it booted like a new one on a cleaned system with all the options

can't you copy it from cd to cd with Nero
