Hi AMC, when it got delivered at work , the story went around that it was a Bentley, I think it's the grill and surround , that makes it look that way,I guees it is the small block engine option here in the UK ,

, in my late teens I was a mech. to a Kart racer , he was racing at Brands hatch , and I got to have a drive around the circuit ,disguised as him , truly awesome experiance, only did about 70 MPH on the straights , but it felt like twice that , The days of low slung sports cars a nearly over in the UK, we have gone crazy installing speed reducing humps in all but the A roads (A roads= main through routes ) My Mini Cooper (lowered ) would not have gone over them , I followed a old Porche a while back , he had had to use the the pavement to get round them , and one of my reasons for keeping the 2CV, it takes speed humps in it's stride at 50mph the latest is speed limits of 20 mph on some A roads , got one near me + a speed camera , soon it will be quicker to walk which I think is the secret agenda that is going on in the UK

 Reckon you could be right there TommieLOL, Well after my short time with the Honda CR-V, auto, I hate auto boxes, still not very common in the UK, I came up to the first intersection and left footed the brake thinking (or not Thinking ) it was the clutch pedal and same for the guy behind me next week I will be piloting a Chrysler C300 t , another auto box it looks longer than a bus , and looks pig ugly to me, it will never fit in a UK parking bay ! I guess it will be sunglasses time again , and turn up the coat collar , why is it I never get to drive a nice Lotus, Mazda mx, I do love that feeling of the ass scrapping the road , and the scenery going past in a blur , apart from the times I dropped a M/c , ouch , today, on the M25 (londons 8 lane in parts freeway ) I saw the most amazing sight , about 500 mtrs ahead of me coming the other way , and seperated from me by a 4foot high concrete wall , a big Artic+trailer loaded with steel , Flipped over in slow motion , it went like a dying dinosour slidding on its side in a cloud of smoke , dust , and debrie, guess he was doing about 65 mph at the time, just hope the driver was OK , it slewed round and blocked all the lanes on his side , nobody else seemed to be involved, the road was still closed 4 hours later, and the tail back was 6 miles long, so some drivers in that would have been there for 5hours +, it caused mahem on my side as some drivers panic braked , 4 hours later they were getting 2 cranes into position , it was a strangely sad sight to see the monster lying still on it's side , same sort of feeling as watching a ship sink, I think it was the slow motion flip , that suprized me most , be lucky Roco

I love girly things, *settle down at the back guys* , and I like giving my old sewing machine a spin from time to time, I don't like washing and ironing , food shopping, cooking, house work in general, but then I am single so I have to get on with it , unlike you married guys , who can put their feet up with a Beer and watch TV

I wonder why , Just my thoughts on this sad fact , Joining a forum, is a bit daunting , a whole lot of new people to meet online , maybe you wont fit in , maybe you will make a embarrassing mistake, even worse you may get flamed ( never seen that on Testmy.net :thumbsup) that was my feelings last Feb. when I signed up , yeah and I am a male, and not the shy son of a vicar maybe we should have a Womans only Forum section , so they can talk about Knitting patterns and sewing, without us guys being all macho, I think we should appreciate and respect our female members more than we do,IMHO, well if this post doesn't get me a date I will , OOOPs DUH ! * must get back behind the bush >Hey, move over Tommie give me some room * regards Roco UK

shucks missed my speed slot by 10 min's Hi Cholla , just the one phone line ,for both, the wiring from computer to pole is ok , ladder and torch job my local green painted box is about 1/2 mile away , on the main freeway to London Airport , and one of the busiest roads in the UK , I think it would a bit difficult to break the lock and delve inside without being noticed my plans for now are to get back onto my ISP, and put the ball back in their court, I will go back and retest the things that they required , ie, line test at 6am, midday, and evening , although the line tests I have done all come back in the 1.7-1.9 Mb range, but internet speed tests are all over the place, I think my speed to the BT hub looks about right for my line lenght and age , because even when the slow speeds are with me, a Bt hub test is still around 1.8Mb although after it has left the hub, it belongs to my ISP, I think that is were my main congestion is , most noticible in peak hours,

Thanks Tommie , The sad part is I was proud to be with my ISP, (Pipex.com ) on of the UK's oldest, it had great street/internet cred. so I am giving them a chance b4 I go ape shit , I had a adsl prob. about 11/2 years back, and they were brilliant , they e-mailed me twice a day on the progress of the problem , (telco BT )and gave their name and e-mail add , but that was from the Techies, Thanks Jason @ pipex.com I am still talking to suport who filter the complaints, at the moment, are you file sharing or running P2P, you may have malware etc, !!!! smooth sailing ? , I wish I knew the meaning of the word , if there is a easy way, or a hard way ! you can guess the on I will pick it must be the Irish blood in me

Hi Tommie , the 8Mb is just a upgrade to my old 250Kbps service , for the same money, so I figured I would see about 1.8Mb , as that is what my line tested out at , but I will say I didn't expect the problems that I am getting with speeds this low and the disconnects, if it settles at 1.8Mb I would be happy enough at that, I know my local Telco exchange is listed for a upgrade, due to happen last week, but no signs of it happening yet , I found out by a bit of detective work , that most of Londons telco exchanges were due to start the same day , I logged into the BT exchange checker , and found my exchange was congested . and work was due to start on the 13 Oct 06 , so I entered some other London Excange numbers , and lo and behold they were congested, and work was to start on the 13 th also , I think BT has only 5 engineers , so I ain't holding my breath on that Technically I could go back on to the old 250Kbps , if my ISP accounts dept. would allow that , but hey, I got the taste for speed I have seen 850Kbps once, on this service  , I put a seatbelt on my puter chair, and wore my old M/c Helmet ,

at the moment I am getting this, slower than my old 250Kbps service , I think I ordered a Ferrari, but they deliverd a scooter still got my old 56K dial up on standby :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 228 Kbps about 0.23 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 28 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 182 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 22 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/10/22 - 12:22pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-LH87Y90M1 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-YMQVUPEN4 User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Maxthon) [!]

Hi Tommie , no, I knew there would be no going back , Just my pigheadedness, somebody had to have a crack at them , yeah, too full of principles me, just another windmill to tilt against, main reason most UK adsl providers now only supply a 8Mb service, as Just and Fiber Optic found it is all a joke, a couple of years back my UK goverment was dismayed at the speed of UK internet compared to Europe, and said we must have a 8Mb service , so the ISP changed the name of their 2Mb products to the " amazing 8Mb broadband * job done IMHO The key words used are up to & estimate , my estimate from them was *congratulations we estimate you can get 5Mb broadband * the reality is maybe 1-1.5 Mb , at the moment 650Kbps, just about all customers only get the max of 2.4 Mb, the advert's for the 8Mb is carefully worded (up to 8Mb )
-
doubt if I can go back Tommie , as Pipex.com only list 3 levels of 8Mb service now, my only option looks like changing ISP, there are a couple of adsl suppliers that will offer a 1-2Mb service, both have poor history in the UK, I might go for cable, but all I really need is a 1-2Mb broadband that is reliable and at a reasonable price, my total usage is around 1.8Gb per month The present situation is , the ball is back in their court , and I am waiting for a reply , basically I have accused them of not taking due care in selling me the 8Mb service and apart from doing some tests for them to prove it isn't my computer , that is done, I ran 3 different computers with 3 adsl modems and filters, one with a clean install, and then pointed out TMN forum was watching this upgrade saga, since then they have gone very quiet, also I politely declined to contact BT (telco ) as my contract was with Pipex.com, So the Game goes on, would be nice if it was sorted by Christmas though
-
Hi Cholla , that looks a comprehensive test , my 56K dial up lost some speed with the ADSL service on the line , Pipex did warn me of that ,at the time, my 250Kbps pipex service ran fine 242Kbps /156Kb up, to testmy net, for 2 years, it is only since I upgraded to the 8Mb service, that my problems started , but more or less my prophecy in my post #1 also strangly , my latency in UK has risen from 35ms to 180ms. ?
-
Hi Cholla , yeah, just downloaded it from your link , failing the laptop reload , I will put it on my spare computer along with M.E.,
-
Hi Cholla , I may be putting M.E. on a laptop within the next week or so, I will look for Alexa , then update IE.6 to the latest , and see what I can find out , This will happen providing I can find a hard drive caddy for a Dell Latitude cpx, b4 Nov ( grandsons Birthday 8y, "he must have a laptop" !!! ) as his older brother has one ! when I was 8y I got a stick and a ball of string , with that I made a bow , much more fun Oh lol just remembered, I put a arrow through the BT junction box on the poll outside my parents house, hope BT has forgotten that (Early signs of my outlaw tendencies ? )
-
Some time back I reloaded M.E many times . alexa came in with the install, only one though, if I remember correctly , AD-Aware found it even then ,
