  1. Hey guys, CA3LE, everyone i just have a quick question. perhaps its my end (most likely). but it seems even when i clear cookies, cache, etc in firefox i have troubles loading The homepage. if i jump to the forum its fine. but the homepage seems to have trouble loading for me. it never times out. just hangs for 10-15 seconds or so then pops up bit by bit. imagine loading a page on dial up. where it slowly fills the page in lol. is it just something on my end? every other site is fine and my speeds are 40/5 currently. i havent tried chrome yet, mainly because i hate that browser. but just a curious little thing.
  2. i was using a geforce something or other haha. man i can even remember what i put in it now....anyway if the graphics card was in the system the sound wouldnt work, if it was removed it worked fine. so i found out that even if i uninstalled the graphics card drivers, the audio drivers (any i could find except the realtek one) and rebooted it would just come straight back and i'd be in the same boat as before except they ruined my realtek audio drivers in the process. turns out the audio drivers for the HDMI disabled my onboard audio settings in my BIOS. just a quick settings change in the BIOS and then disabling the hdmi audio from device manager seemed to work. sorry for the engrish i put in this post lol. my keyboard is on the fritz. edit/ here is the newest version of the realtek audio codec i could find. just in case you might need it. http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false i was thinking, did you check the graphics card control panel, there should be a little section for the hdmi audio, perhaps you could turn it off there. or maybe change the playback settings in the sound mixer in the taskbar? i know you probably thought of that, just covering simple stuff i would overlook lol.
  3. not sure if this matters, but sometimes there is an option in the gpu control panel. and if you are using an onboard graphics chip instead, you could also try looking to see if the generic driver install that windows did was for an "Intel audio hdmi driver". not sure if it is even relevant to your problem, but i did have an issue on my latest build with audio being all messed up. turns out it was an intel hdmi audio driver trying to over write what i wanted to be my primary driver. edit. the actual name of the intel audio driver is this "Intel HDMI Display Audio."
  4. I finally gave in and upgraded my internet from 20mbps/5mbps to 50/10. I am currently streaming some youtube/netflix so my speeds are slightly off and its peak hours anyway. but check it out.
  5. windows passwords are simple. did you know in windows 7 you can crack a users password (even admins or anyone really) by changing the ease of access button on the log on screen to open command prompt? lol. "net user" command is very powerful. in xp, it of course is even easier. but no, im thinking of a HDD password. like if you pull the CMOS battery some passwords can be reset, or whatever. but on a HDD/SDD password the drive wont spin up and load an OS until you input the correct passcode. i know wiping a drive completely can fix that issue. hell even running, oh lets say, Ubuntu on a Live CD can bypass that. but i wondered if there is just a way to remove it without actually needing to know it. like i said, its not needed anymore, but its still a question im wondering. but im also wondering if its actually safe to put the answer (in detail anyway) in this topic as someone might stumble upon it looking to do some immoral things lol.
  6. just got off the phone and they guessed the PW correctly. but thinking back on this post, i know its risky to tell someone how to crack stuff like that. but if you can do this just give me a yes, its easy, or yes its hard. lol.
  7. Hi guys, I have a customer who has forgotten their HDD password on a toshiba laptop. i know full well they are the owners and such, and dont want to actually wipe the drive as they dont have a recovery disc. is there any way possible to remove a HDD password without actually knowing it? lol. thanks guys.
  8. https://testmy.net/legit-speed-test.php basically flash based tests, while they give good results for estimating your speeds, are not accurate at all for true speeds.
  9. for a performance/budget gpu i recently had a friend buy a HIS 7870 ghz edition for just under 200 bucks. thing is a champ although slightly on the loud side because of the fan. well, searching for a link it apparently went up in price, but either way here is the one he got. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161411
  10. you can always get into trouble on the internet....just a lot faster with a high speed connection
  11. a wireless router can do that without software if you mean setting up computers to where you can limit speeds, disable them from the internet between certain times, etc.
  12. well i think the reason it was a bad connection (or at least thats what it seems like it was) is because this card (powercolor 7970) is a heavy bulky card and wasnt seated properly when it was put in the first time so it was slowly leaning out more and more. after testing and making sure of everything. its back in the first slot and running smoothly, knock on wood.
  13. well so far so good. even with the card in the first slot again. not sure what the deal is. but it hasnt happened since. im wondering what happened but glad its not doing it anymore lol. temps, voltages, etc are all fine even under load so i have no clue now. thanks for your help!
  14. checked everything and for some reason it doesnt seem to be a gpu issue at all like i figured.... i noticed that every time this issue happens, my mobo splash screen doesnt come up and it kinda lags on start up....and the port does seem a little different than the other pci ex16 4\3.0 slot. perhaps its a slot issue..... i could put the video card in the second slot and not have problems, am i right? just to check and see if it is the slot.
  15. tried it and to no avail....although i did take the video card out and reseat it....so far knock on wood its working.
  16. hey guys, some of ya know i built a new system not too long ago. and last night i tried to open battlefield 3 and it just came up with a blue screen (not the bsod, just a plain blue screen) with grey lines all over it in like a zig zag pattern and locked up the pc. i rebooted and all was fine. today i just now got home from work and turned the pc on and before windows even loaded i was greeted with the "windows has stopped working properly"....blah blah blah we prevented hardware failure blah blah screen. the bsod was so hard to read because the grey lines were back....i rebooted and went to safe mode and the lines were still there....so i shut down and booted normally and all is fine again. any ideas? i have noticed that my microphone (blue snowball) seems to always be flagged as a problem (every time i boot it says the drivers are corrupted). i know its weird but im wondering if it being plugged in to the usb ports it is messing with some boot stuff...honestly it sounds far fetched but i've had a pc lock up until i unplugged a printer from it to boot.... either that or more likely its my graphics card.....which i hope to the computer gods its not.... any ideas?
  17. that is a sweet build man. i like the case too. its one i have actually used before building for someone else. and that SSD is one heck of a difference between boot times and everything. by the way, i also got myself a new microphone for audio recording. as my turtle beach x12's are a bit too loud even after messing with settings. i now have a BLUE snowball ice and THE POP universal pop filter. (also blue brand). this thing is amazing quality wise. ugly but effective. NinjaGeek, i really like your build and hope it brings ya some awesome moments.
  18. its actually laser engraved. its the name i use most often in gaming. more or less what i'm known by. and thanks CA3LE. i put a ton of work into getting this thing. and yeah so far with BF3 on ultra settings, i havent even heard the gpu fan spin up. i've ramped it up purposely to make sure it works, but so far its not needed. overall i consider my build a 10/10 for the next few years. just sucks that the next intel cpus coming out probably wont be compatible with my mobo.
  19. as close to an instant cold boot to ready as humanly possible it seems lol. tried far cry 3 and bf3 ultra settings, cant even get a stutter if i try. also had a video i edited in sony vegas 11 of a 30 minute hockey game i recorded from the ps3 and it only took like 20 to 30 minutes to render and save from scratch. which the settings i used i figured it would have taken like 2 hours. temperature wise...well here's a screenshot of my temps. (btw my gpu fan hasnt gone to 100% unless i make it manually. and the cpu fan i never mess with the speed, i keep it at just under 2000 rpm. as the push pull setup on the 130mm fans on the heatsink work fine LOL. btw, this screenshot was taken after i had loaded up a game and stuff so the temps went down a bit, but still that is a badass temperature for overall anyway. as a whole though, this thing is a frickin beast. im 110% happy with how it came out.
  20. well here's my new build. up and running like a beast. i7 3770k thermaltake frio ock cooler master haf x full tower samsung 120gb ssd 1tb data drive Lg bluray drive 8gb ddr3 1600 ram powercolor 7970 850 gold rated corsair psu 23 inch 1080p monitor gigabyte ....im too tired to rememberthe number.... d3h mobo sorry for blurry images. i took them with my phone and my hands arent exactly steady.
  21. the thing that i would say first has already been posted by ninja and yourself. but the thing that throws me off is you say it still prints? or am i reading that wrong
  22. haha i havent been into my profile in so long i didnt even notice the function in there. but hey glad to see ya got it.
  23. aw mudman, you just beat me. i had been surfing through my profile and noticed that. When the heck did it even get introduced as a feature???? lol its cool. i just had no idea about it.
  24. well, honestly my first reply still has an edit button although its greyed out until i move the mouse cursor over it. and hey if worst case scenario is you can message a mod or admin and ask them to edit the post for you. haha tommie, we posted at the same dang time almost.
  25. down u nder your post where it says multiquote and quote. to the left is an edit button. you can go edit your post and remove the image, file, or whatever it may be from the post and click save once done. you may also want to click use full editor when editing the post. makes it easier to navigate. (at least for me)
