yeah sorry shug, mine comes with vista...but the price on newegg for that model was 499 but mine has vista home basic...so you might want to discard that. idk but yeah, dlewis, you know some vostro models are more expensive with vista if you go with xp pro sp2? at least it was when i customized the 1500. vostro version.

yeh but 15000 rpm hard disks are fairly expensive...i wouldnt get one just to use for a page file....or maybe im just cheap....

nope not true...but you can can cause some problems if you mess something up while moving the page file

i got it figured out. i reinstalled and chose which updates to do instead of clicking them all.

i see your point, but my wirless on my laptop is integrated and im using it with linux right now. but yeah, i love linux on my desktop, im gonna partition my harddrive with Gparted because i dont use 70 gigs of my space anyways, so i'll install mandriva 2008 as a dual boot too.

no its not. i have everything working perfectly now. and if a noob to linux like me can do it...then it shouldnt be a hassle to anyone..you just have to make sure you ahve the right drivers and versions for your specs.....
