If I were you, I'd move the dish myself now, keep it pointed at your current sat, then call again to have them move you.

For you WB fans, I spoke to an installer yesterday who is trying to figure out what to do with his spare time. According to him, they are not installing anywhere right now because they have filled up their bird. Seems that issue is the same everywhere. And as for speed and performance... Satellite will die for the most part. I have VZW's EVDO coverage less than an hour away from my house, and they are building out further all the time. I have an EVDO capable PC card for my work, and get 900/200 speeds with that for the same price I am paying DWAY, with 400 msec latency and coverage anywhere I have service. In fact, if it wasn't for downloads and uploads, their 1xRTT service beats DWAY browsing now due to their compression software. This morning, things are cooking... :::.. I finally got a chance to tinker with my dish this afternoon. I couldn't anything better for RSL, but I was able to get XPOL up to 84 pretty steady, with spikes once in a while to 88. It is cloudy today. I think a really clear day it will be a touch higher. I haven't seen any IA8 values much higher than I have mine. The tech that moved me from SatMex 5 to IA8 said that high 70's on RSL and mid 60's on XPOL on IA8 is normal. Also, for the previous post, fail is anything below 60.

I would like to start a thread to post signal strength and cross-pol values for various configurations on Direcway. The purpose of this would be to have someplace for people to go to see if their values are good, or whether they would benefit from adjustment. Please indicate your values. Please only post values in clear weather (no rain/snow/hail... dark of night is ok) Also, please include your satellite and transponder. Lastly, be aware that the FCC says you CANNOT move your dish unless you are properly trained... My values: IA8 1330 Mhz RSL: 82 XPOL: 69

I was happy with the technician. He was impressed with my previous signal strength and XPOL. (91/99 respectively) I am at 82/69 right now. He says that is good for this satellite. I am not convinced. We shall see. I haven't looked. Is there a XPOL/RSL thread on here?

I usually do power cycle my modem, but sometimes do software resets first...

Now I am not a programmer at all, but here is a thought for an improvement... How about a menu item on right click on task bar (where show status, help, etc. is) the sends the telnet reset command like the reset6000 program that is on this forum and some others??? I reset a lot, and lately have been going to the "system control center" to do it. This would make that a couple steps easier!! Cool utility. I like it for the sig strength on rainy days.
