why are the speed conversions on the speed test inaccurate?
VanBuren replied to onamae's topic in General Discussion
dude i suggest you relax and read, testmy.net calculator is the most accurate you will get quote from http://lyberty.com/encyc/articles/kb_kilobytes.html also check this thread http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=10714.msg105309#msg105309 if you came here to bash testmy.net and the accuracy of the speed test itself, good luck ! VanBuren by the way welcome to the site -

I started up a webserver on my PC, see what speed you get, download will be limited to around 11 Mbps ( my uploadcap ) but upload is limited to 100 Mbps http://thegamer.serveftp.com/myspeed/ VanBuren

the uploadtest is hosted on testmy.net main server even tho it says Vaggo as mirror "vaggo.servehttp.com has been chosen automatically for you. NOTE: If you have slow internet or don't have broadband, testing with the larger files will only waste your time. SmarTest is normally the best choice for testing. *
-
you could host a uploadtest, that would have a 5 Mbps limit ( your downstream cap ) but like i said, a downloadtest need more then 384 Kbps upload dosent your ISP offer homepage hosting, alot of ISP
-
:haha: yea, you should talk to Damon and let him set up a text, Vaggos Dial up testmirror, cos you need alot more upload for testing broadband VanBuren
-
Vaggo your hosting the mirror at your home right? then our downstream cant go above your upstream cap, thats why its not very fast VanBuren
-
you can increase the DefaultSendWindow for 512 Kbps, 65536 should be enough VanBuren
-
you can try this VanBuren

same here :::.. hey noodlz and welcome to the forum i think you know that downloadscore is not right, try disable your firewall during test or post a link where Charter Communications offer those speeds i think you need to find out what speeds your paying for and then judge if tested speed is good or not VanBuren
