if you used to get good speed with the settings, then its not a problem with them. try to remember what you did when speed went down did you install any driver etc... also test other speedtests, if you get good speed on them it most likely a problem in your route to testmy.net also change your LAN wire between modem and PC, sometimes those can get damaged VanBuren

its a good question and i dont belive you will get a complete answer burst is something that dosent last for a long time, and i assume you refering speed bursts to a internet connection during the years ive been testing and comparing speedtests ive seen that the most accurate speed if the test while atleast 6-8 seconds. for a 1 Mbps connection thats around 110 KB/s x 6 sec = 660 KB (10 % TCP overhead) for a 1.5Mbps connection its around 165KB/s x 6 sec = 990 KB (10 % TCP overhead) and so on. as greater file you testing with, as more accurate result will you get if you have a lousy line with hevy packetloss, then a test with a small testfile will show you a greater speed then a large ( if your lucky and have no packetloss during that second), thats a burst. no one can go faster then the modem cap, if so its just the test calculating speed wrong i dont have anything that back this up, just my thoughts VanBuren

Why is my download speed much greater on mirror sites?
VanBuren replied to CEL's topic in Show off your speed
that mirror is in same datacenter as testmy.net servers i think its a matter of filesize, the mirror was 20MB and the main test was 3MB bigger files get a more accurate score try this CEL http://server1.testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st&ta=&top= VanBuren -
Cable Company NTL signs BitTorrent file-sharing deal
VanBuren replied to just-'s topic in Virgin.net (old NTL)
that is a step in the right direction for sure ComHem a Swedish cable ISP announced that in spring they will upgrade to euro docsis 3.0, and offer 100 Mbps downstream, couldnt find any info on upstream, but they have 1 Mbps up today and 8 Mbps down. Also my ISP Bredbandsbolaget announced they will offer 100 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up with vdsl2 this year VanBuren -
