TCP Optimizer is easy to use and the latest TCP optimizer is alot better then the past, with this you can choose your advertised speed, but its way more limited then Cablenut Cablenut is the only tweakprogram that can tweak upload, for alot of ppl with pretty low upload bandwith, the TCP Optimizer is enough to hit the cap. I always managed to hit my cap upstream and dowstream with Cablenut, and with TCP Optmimizer ive only hit downstream cap, So my vote goes to Cablenut VanBuren

no problem, good luck VanBuren

considering thats your ISP testserver and inside thier net, and only score around half your downstream cap, make me think you have a problem with your modem call your ISP and let them check your modem signals VanBuren

download this ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64 when you downloaded around 60% of the file, check speed let us know what speed you get VanBuren

run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks. Copy and paste result URL address in your post! 4. What speed do you have against http://nitro.ucsc.edu/

quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "HOW TO SET THE PROPER NIC DUPLEX SETTINGS: Win98/ME: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network. * From the scrollable list, select your Ethernet adapter (rather than any dial-up) with a green icon. * Click the button Properties. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK all the way out - you might need to restart. Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. hey Narko and welcome to the forum you can try updating router firmware, also make sure your router using 1500 as MTU run this tweaktest, with and without router and see if the MTU is 1500 both times http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks also when using router, set your NIC to 100 Mbit full duplex VanBuren

hey Chris and welcome to the forum aslong as the speed is fine, dont worry about the duplex error. The duplextest is not 100% accurate aswell best is to use "Auto" duplex mode on your NIC

yea its a great test, atleast for downstream hehe 2005-08-09 05:08:39 EST: 29398 / 1410 Your download speed : 30103643 bps, or 29398 kbps. A 3674.7 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 1443869 bps, or 1410 kbps. also i agree with you Blunted, those NDT tests can be inaccurate for upload. I think it has to do with the large buffers they using. For fat fiber optics they are very accurate, the most accurate on the planet if you ask me. look at my network graph and compare it to the score VanBuren

im no expert in modems, but i belive you can run PPPoE without using a router http://www.dslreports.com/faq/2252 "Q: Raising MTU from 1480 with WinXP, using *built in* PPPoE connection software. (#2252) A: As of 10/15/01, there is no way known to raise MTU in WinXP from 1480. This issue is seen only by WinXP users who are connecting with the built in PPPoE connection software. If you change to RASPPPoE, or use a router instead, your MTU should then default to 1492. RASPPPoE is popular, free, and less problematic than WinPoet (another choice). This small difference (12 bytes) in MTU is negligible however, and should cause no concern. Check back from time to time though for a "fix"." the "built in" setup look like this http://dslnuts.com/pppoe/XPCON.htm VanBuren

call your ISP and ask what your advertised speed is 2. Who your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is, and what the advertised speed for download/upload is. 3. What tweaking programs you already have installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks. Copy and paste result URL address in your post! 4. What speed do you have against https://testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also download this Tracert and Ping program (made by php) and click on check.bat. When it's done, copy and paste the results in your post. VanBuren

if you have cablenut installed, open adjuster and make a screenshot of your current settings for tweaking upload you can try setting your "Default Sendwindow" to 128000 and click save to registry and reboot if that didnt help, just blank out the value, click save to registry again and restart your PC VanBuren

yea i almost forgot my ISP also offer fiberoptic to homes but thats another story VanBuren
-
hey Deny and welcome to the forum thats fantastic my ISP www.bredbandsbolaget.se used to offer regular vdsl capped at 12/9 Mbps but for some reason they stoped that service, dont know if it was too expensive or what, but now all they offer is regaular ADSL 8/1 Mbps and ADSL2+ 24/1 Mbps. They probl make more money on that i dont know. VanBuren

do you use any tweaks? Like TCP optimizer, Cablenut, Dr.TCP? DSL is hard to tweak, but it works good for some and for some windows default is the best. VanBuren
