They just do that for security i see a button that says you can always allow it. Just do that and you will be ok...

assign a sticky ip in the TCP/IP settings of the connection =)

Welcome to the forums! First, what is your advertised speeds? Second, run a tracert to testmy.net copy and paste by right clicking-mark-highlight-right click again which will copy and then paste here!!

cox is a very good ISP... I think they are starting to release their type of download/upload boost to everyones modem =)

it will work, just do a fresh install....and when it asks you to activate it, just call microsoft and they will confirm the activation.

modem>hub>my computers>router>other computers 4 ports....(hub) 2 for my 2 computers and 1 for the router... independent ip's

oh i like routers.. and their security features.. but i'm advanced enough to the point where i dont (my computer) need a router for security... but i dont really see an issue with the hub i have.. its a managed netgear hub... i also like the hub cause i can host things without having to port forward..

im going threw a hub... there is also a router on my network... a total of 7 computers right now

1400 ms he is saying... You won't be able to use Vonage on that Satallite connection.. too slow... he was wondering if he could reduce his ping time to be able to use vonage, and that answer is no. you cant unless you get a faster ISP funny thing happened the other day... i was at my uncles and one of his friends came over that had comcast.. my uncle has huges...he said "this internet is REALLY slow, who is his provider?" i respond ... "Walk with me, and i will show you... i took him outside and pointed up... and said... do you see that wayyy up there? he says: no... me: yup, thats spacenet!

i have virgin mobile (sprint) and i have their wireless access card.. it sucks... and expensive

yeah it took about 1 week for my dsl to get up to par... ( i have cable and dsl..)
