The only reason to really buy xbox over ps2 is halo and the awesome graphics that xbox has. Other than that they are identical.

Here are my test results for my wired computer with an rwin value of 17520 ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 2043 kbps about 2 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is: 249 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2030646 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 36 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 4 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=2030646&kbps=2043&gen=gen&a=1.71428571428571&b=0&c=1145.14285714286 It is closer but not any faster

We all know that testmy.net is better than anything else out there. Personally I dont want 37 numbers for my speed i am fine with a nice little, fewest numbers as possible, number for my speed. i am not interested in some crazy ass number that looks like this 2852.1354854358945135845kbs Screw that i dont care that much about it.

Halo kicks ass!! Have you tried mutiplayer with Rainbow six 3 yet...? That is the sweetest game in the world! I got it for christmas and have been playing online for free non stop. Give it a try i bet you would like it.

Hey here is one for you guys to ponder. I have a Dlink 614+ wireless router with 2.20 firmware installed. My wireless speed is faster then my wired speed!?! I have two computers on the wireless part both are running 2056kbs on testmy.net and have an Rwin value of 17520. My wired computer has an Rwin value of 51000 and is slow as hell for a wire computer. I would expect to be faster then the wireless computers. Correct?? I am running about 2026kbs at the current settings. I have tried VanBuren's guide to tweeking the Rwin. No sucess. A little help would be great. I am on COMCAST.

It is an average speed over the download time.

You have found the best site on the net!! I have learned tons from these guys already also!! Keep up the great work!
-
ok great! I was networking xbox, halo and Rainbow Six 3, along with the standard computer lan party.
-
I had the impression that if you are running faster then the speed that you paid for you shouldn't screw with the rwin?. I might give this a try just to see how fast i can get it. Thanks VanBuren!!

Hey I have a kinda wierd question. I have seen 10T-base hubs/switches and 100T-base hubs/switches. Is 10T-base stuff still in use today?? Also if i were to have a lan party i have read on some "LAN PARTY" sites that the best way to connect around 10-16 people. I have seen a diagram that goes from the game server to a 100T switch then to the upload port of a hub. Is this the best way to do this?? or is there a better way?

Hey all this is what i got on Jan 2 @ 6:12. A script error or something bumped me to the 579 test when i used the smart test. I think this is the new speed that COMCAST was talking about. I will retest shortly. ::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 2820 kbps about 3 Mbps (tested with 579 KB) Download Speed is: 344 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2042301 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 50 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 3 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?num=2042301&kbps=2820&gen=gen&a=1.14285714285714&b=0&c=1145.14285714286

The restults clearly show only one thing....this is the best bandwidth test!!! The 26th shouldnt have been that busy to have that much activity on the servers to affect the test on the other sites. All in all this site kicks ass!!!

That is what the new pro sevice will include. 3000/512...your upload might not be up to the full speed yet!

After talking to a senior tech rep i have found out that all current Comcast customers that have had the service for 2 months or more as of December 1st will receive the comcast pro package for free. That would include 3000 download and 512 upload. However, the system is still not ready for this upgrade. The tech's time line shows around Jan 15th or so for the upgrade to begin state wide. (Illinois) I have no idea what they are going to do in other states. Illinois has had numerous problems with comast and their service. IF ILLINOIS COMCAST COUSTOMERS COULD POST THEIR UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD TEST HERE THAT WOULD BE GREAT!! Also anyone that is on the new systems please fell free to post so that we can compair speeds.

Thanks!! I was thinking about upgrading to about 512-1gb of pc2100 ram( my mobo supports both) but didnt think that it would help that much! what brand of ram are you running in your machine??

::: Download Stats ::: Connection is: 2390 kbps about 2 Mbps (tested with 748 KB) Download Speed is: 292 Kb/sec Auth Code: 2035851 (validate a http://www.testmy.net) Bottom Line: 43 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 4 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check_dn.cgi?num=2035851&kbps=2390&gen=gen This is pretty fast for the chicago area at this time. Come tomorrow the new free pro service should become available. I will post again then. Where do you live state. you might be receiving the pro service right now.

No the upgrades are to bring the entire system up to spec so that the pro package can be offered in each geographic area. Currently it looks like you are on a system that has allready received the upgrade. I am not and am running around 2500-2700 on the standard package. However, this great speed will disappear soon!!! They will ask you to upgrade or be cut back to the standard 1.5/256 crap. There is talk that this package will be boosted to around 1.8/300ish in the near future after the pro package becomes available. I know Chicago goes online with the free upgrade around the 15th of December. Check out the forum on comcast.net to see updates on this issue. There is a lot of talk about trying to force comcast to offer the upgrade for free for all existing members due to poor service. The BBB has been contacted numberous time about the tech support being poor and that what they advertize, "allways on fast connection", isnt what that. The speed for the new pro service will be around 3mbs/512 however you will not be able to host a server or anything extra versus the normal service.

Ok i am looking to update my system a little bit here. I am currently running a shuttle ak32a mobo, 2000+ xp, 327mb ram, cd-rw, and cd-rom. I think my biggest bottleneck in my system is my video card, ATI Radeon 32mb sdram PCI. I have a 2x/4x AGP on my current mobo and would like to use it. I am currently looking at either an ATI 9600 Pro or a Nvidia 5700 Ultra graphics card. I have around 150 to spend and both fall into that price range.

I have a nother question. I was visiting dslreports to do a tweak test. The only problem with my connection that they found was my Rwin value(256960) It told me to Choose RWIN between 14600 and 37960. I am on comcast 1.5/256 cable. Any ideas if i should change this or leave it alone. I am on a dlink Di-614+ router using cat 5 to this computer. Hey i got a speed question. I know as bandwidth go up the "burst" speed for a small file can be amazing. My test on your smarttest for like a 63kb file was like 4850 or something like that. Why on the 1500 file will my speed jump around by like 400-500kbs around 1 in the morning?
-
LOL yah pretty much.

What type of networking gear are you using?? If it is D-Link you need to tell the router to put out at the speed in the software provided.
