  10. So it was line noise pretty much good to hear!
  11. No you should be alright.. If i remember correctly you send TCP/IP to the modem.. then it injects the PPPoE frame.. So what you are taking about would be like an edge firewall.. In which case you could have dropped packets.
  12. Active X should work as normal.. the only thing that was changed was the fact that it can only exicute the 7 plug-ins that were designed for IE.. I am not running IE 7 but that is what I have been reading. .
  13. It isnt an offical release.. so i think they have to make it so that you can do that.. Same think happens when you install sp2

  19. ActiveX is still there.. There is a new security feature called ActiveX Opt-In.. which allows only the 7 of the 350 ActiveX extensions to run.. those 7 were designed for the browser.. Also there is a way to get "safe mode" on the new IE7.. Not sure if it is available in the beta but the final release should have the option to run no extension at all.
  20. Another update.. http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus-mini/answers/ Price and availability The price of the keyboard is $100 until April 2, 2006. The keyboard will be available for pre-order this week. After April 2, 2006 the price will be higher. Keyboards ready for shipment will arrive on May 15. Plugins The more plugins are written, the easier to use and the more practical will be the keyboard. The library of plugins will be opened at our website. We expect gadget lovers, programmers, people who like new computer accessories, and other enthusiasts to be the first buyers. We believe that by the end of summer a sufficient number of plugins will be written for Optimus Configurator, so that the keyboard can be presented to designers, traders, cutters, photographers, and kids. Optimus Configurator Optimus Configurator automatically recognizes the application and uploads images and commands for the current context. Optimus Configurator will be written for MacOS and Linux shortly after Windows. We are working on the Windows version. OLED Organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) in our screens last for 5000 hours of continuous use. The screen saving mode is designed to extend the keyboard
  21. First welcome to the forum.. How long ago did you reformat the computer? did you install all of the latest drivers?
  22. alright could you post a tracert to see what we are dealing with? This isnt 100% true.. some of the newer router will disregard pings to the wan port but still allow the tracert to go through.. It is very possible for a hop to be over 100ms.. Tracing route to cnn.com [64.236.16.116] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 6 ms 5 ms 5 ms hill-c45a-c4507-01-205b.tcom.purdue.edu [128.211 .205.1] 3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms erht-5b-c6509-01-4022.tcom.purdue.edu [172.19.25 2.1] 4 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms tel-210-c6509-01-4091.tcom.purdue.edu [192.31.0. 1] 5 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms tel-210-m10-01-campus.tcom.purdue.edu [192.5.40. 54] 6 3 ms 3 ms 2 ms gigapop.tcom.purdue.edu [192.5.40.134] 7 14 ms 14 ms 5 ms sd-ul.indiana.gigapop.net [192.12.206.245] 8 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms so-2-3-0-0.gar2.Chicago1.Level3.net [67.72.124.9 ] 9 7 ms 7 ms 7 ms ae-2-54.bbr2.Chicago1.Level3.net [4.68.101.97] 10 31 ms 26 ms 25 ms ae-0-0.bbr1.Atlanta1.Level3.net [64.159.1.45] 11 26 ms 26 ms 25 ms ge-6-0-0-53.gar2.Atlanta1.Level3.net [4.68.103.7 1] 12 26 ms 25 ms 25 ms pop2-atm-P0-2.atdn.net [66.185.138.33] 13 166 ms 203 ms 212 ms bb2-atm-P0-3.atdn.net [66.185.138.42] I am on an 17000/1500 connection.. 100+ ms possible. Third thing.. thePlanet.com, the host of this website, has been doing maintaince to their network for most of last week and some of this week. This could explain some of the high ping times as traffic is having to be moved from one router to another causing excess traffic.
  23. Not going to happen.. Since it is on a telephone line and you "dial in" you have to use the PPP protocol.. PPP= Point to Point Protocol.. What this does is provide security, traffic monitoring, and compression. PPPoE allows TCP/IP from ethernet to be sent via a virtual circuit.. similar to dial up another computer with an ethernet port. DSL doest this because the ISP is based on the telephone lines and if they didn't you could, my guess would be, access the service for free. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPPoE
  24. well.. atleast you know what the problem is.. never posted a tracert.. that could have pinned it right at the beginning.. sorry about that my bad..
  25. the i is business class for the US i believe.. Why.. i have no idea.. but that is what they decided to do.
