That is a decent deal.. you can normally find the wrt54g for about $40.00 to get the extra bandwidth that the GS version has you are going to have to run linksys' cards in all of the computers. Are you flashing from wireless or wired?
-
yeah you are compairing against all of the FIOS members.. so they have like 7000/1000 connections..
-
D-Link release some really poor firmware late last year.. For some reason it works on some of the hardware and for other stuff it doesnt work at all.. I would suggest flashing down to the second newest firmware and give that a try.
-
Alright i might have confused my self completly.. it has been one of those days.. if you have that hardware.. and you increase bandwidth and lag remains that same.. to the user.. that would be faster.. it would be like taking a t1 and upgrading it to like t3 with the same lag.. you could push more data over the pipe there by increasing the "speed" of the connection.

yeah.. I think this has to do with external modem.. I am pretty sure, not positive, that the 100ms refers the amount of time that it takes the computer to sent it to the modem, connected to the computer via serial, and then receive the sent message. By doubling the bandwidth and using the product, which will bond the connections to the user.. but when it comes to download/uploading it would use both the lines seperate. so if you were trying to download like 5mb.. one line would download 2.5 and the other would download 2.5 assuming that the server allows multiple connections. This seems article seems to be way out of date also.. there is no mention of 56k at all. and the apple product they are comairing it to is also connected to serial.. Where as the product that i posted can be connected to serial, which would enduce transmission time or it can be connected via ethernet. Which would mean that it would induce less than 1ms.

I found business class hardware on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-Netopia-R2020-Dual-Analog-Router_W0QQitemZ5862640024QQcategoryZ51168QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Take 2 56k lines and combines them into one 112 kbps line..

Yeah someone else was having problems coming in via over seas today also.. it looks like dca2.us.above.net which is above.net's router in Washington D.C is running alot of traffic though it right now.. I wouldnt do anything quite yet.. Please check your Message box! -
If interested check this page for details. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=11765.new#new

that might not be the speed that you get.. that could be the 7000/512 package.. i think that price is for the 4000/384 package.. I would give it some time.. if it doesnt work call the ISP directly!

yeah you need to tweak that connection... Post a tracert to testmy.net.. Start-> run -> type cmd and press enter.. -> then type tracert testmy.net -
I am wondering if he is getting 3ms because he doenst have as much line noise... I am not sure if line speed would effect response time.. but i know it does effect speed..
-
still no response? what a suprise..

Is it the ISP's fault or the landlord? If it is the lSP call and they should give you credit for excessive ping to one of their servers... if it is the landlord who distributes the internet..they are probally getting a kick back.. ask them to lower the rent for a month or credit you.. I wouldnt with hold rent over internet... Cause it is working.. just not at high speed. BTW.. Welcome to the site!

The pings get high when he jumps the pond.. 12 99 ms 98 ms 97 ms so-7-0-0.cr2.dca2.us.above.net [64.xxx.xx.xxx]<- Washington DC 13 127 ms 126 ms 125 ms so-2-3-0.cr2.dfw2.us.above.net [64.xxx.xx.xx] <- Dallas/ Fort Worth My guess would be that they are a little congested right now..

http://www.widowpc.com/2006/02/sli_laptop.php?www.dailytech.com WidowPC Gaming Computers - Announcing the First SLI Laptop WidowPC Dreams Big and in SLI SLI laptops are a big step forward for gaming laptops. Gaming laptops have traditionally lagged behind gaming desktops in power. Obviously, in order for gaming laptops to have the same gaming power at a LAN party as a gaming desktop, the laptop must have a fast AMD CPU, 7800 graphics in SLI and a responsive LCD display. Somehow the word has gotten out that WidowPC is developing SLI laptops with 19" fast response displays. The rumors are true. It's hard to keep the lid on something this big. Now, we're finally allowed to release some information. This is pretty general data, but it's all we're allowed to release at this time. The SLI laptops are still in development and we don't want to release specific info about the laptops components and then have to change it due to development issues. As we are allowed to release more information, we'll update this page. Enjoy! The WidowPC SLI Laptop - The Sting 919 In dreaming up this laptop, we wanted the highest performance features of a desktop included. So, we made a wish list of everything we wanted in this dream machine as follows: * A AMD CPU For Laptops Laptops are thinner and have less room for cooling. So, we want an AMD CPU, built for cool, fast performance. The last thing we want in the middle of LAN party is over heating. More news on the socket type and specific CPUs supported will be forthcoming. * A Dual GPU, PCI Express Laptop Video cards have a major impact on performance. Desktops have the Nvidia 7800 in SLI. It's a must have in gaming laptops in order to compete. PCI-Express goes hand-in-hand with Nvidia's SLI due to the increased bus bandwidth. Another "must have." Obviously, the power requirements for this setup are demanding. We'll be releasing more details on how this is possible in the near future. * A 19" Laptop Display real estate at high resolution is precious. A 19" screen has become the desktop standard for gaming, photos and video editing. The 19" screen will add some weight to the total package. However, the goal here is for a SLI laptop that competes at the same level as a gaming desktop. A 19" display is another must have. Other Issues We're Keeping In Mind We like to assure our fans that we are keeping focused on the basics. The SLI laptop final product should continue to be sufficiently portable that it's a mobility advantage over a desktop (even a small one like a mini-ATX, Shuttle style desktop). As we mentioned above, the cooling has to be first rate. We don't want the cooling to be an issue at all.

That is a good idea.. however, I am going to guess that since the router is the one that seems to be giving them problems.. that the cable values are correct. I would try and change the WAN port speed down to 10Mbps. For some reason that helps some times.. it should be located under WAN setting if i remember correctly. When it drops if you leave it alone does the connection come back after a period of time? BTW Welcome to the forum!

I was reading through one of my daily sources and found these.. http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html The latest edition of Processo Explorer from sysinternals is now available.. Lets you see what every process is registered to! Could be really helpful in detecting spyware/malware! Then I found.. uBrowser.. it allows you to "browse" in 3d. just something cool.. http://ubrowser.com/index.php Both are free!

variable speed on tests;adelphia cable preferred plan
Swimmer replied to madracer's topic in HELP! With Tests
the time it takes the information to travel to the server and back to you... This also can depend on the network load at the points that you are trying to use as a route to the server. -
if you want a static ip i would contact your ISP and talk to them about upgrading or adding on a static IP.. Also you are going to need more bandwidth than a consumer connection offers to host a server at home. Again, business class will do the trick or even a dedicated t1.
-
Here is their "speed test" from one of their servers.. like i said.. they are routed with 150 providors.. so the ping times there are pretty good! http://www.lunarpages.com/speedtest/

yup.. pretty much... makes everything seem like cake work..
