yeah that is how non dedicated servers work i believe.. The only problem would be registering with the DNS server.. I dont know I will look into it.. Alright did some research.. This is what I came up with.. Name based would be more likely on a system that is more low budget. Like a hosting company that is just starting out and can not afford to have multiple IP addresses to one box. IP based would be more prevlent, in my opinion, for host that have a pretty large operation. This way if you are hit with a DoS attack you would only lose 1 IP and the rest would still be functional. Also with name based you would have to create rule as far as bandwidth goes for each of the sites. With IP based it would be a free for all on the network. My guess is that with a dedicated server you are going to be getting IP based. However, with a shared server, it could be either.. I would lean more toward Name based.

update your drivers.. for the laptop.. if it is still "broken" then call tech support and get a new one.. that shouldnt happen..

Vista is going to be the holy grail for 64bit support.. i would wait and see what that has to offer rather than play with x64 XP..

when it is working.. tracert testmy.net.. his modem values might be out of wack.. I had that problem when I first got Comcast.. for some reason it would work for about 10-15min after a powercycle then nothing..

Yeah.. you are going to have to reformat.. 99% of the time you can not move hard drives, that contain the os, between two different platforms, Socket A vs 745/939. I would put the drive back into your old computer.. get everything that you need to have on a different partition. then reinstall. windows on the new computer.. this way you can save your important stuff and get rid of all of the old drivers that would have been associated with the older computer. I wouldnt waste your time with x64.. there are real no performance gains..

pretty much nothing.. in gaming benchmarks.. with the 64bit version of farcry.. it was slower then running the standard 32bit version on normal windows.. also drivers are still some what of an issue.. not every manufacturer is releasing drivers for x64

yes.. you can do that.. I am pretty sure that you can set this up using the firewall.. let me play for a few minutes.. then i will let you know. ok here we go.. Log onto the router.. http://192.168.0.1 Click on advanced.. then select filters on the left it should bring up the filter page. select MAC filter and then choose "Only allow computers with MAC address listed below to access the network" from the drop down select the correct MAC address.. that should be all that you need to do.. apply and then go check the clients.

That would be an interesting test.. if it soild i would put it through a benchmark test just to make sure that it is going to stay stable.

those are the best heatsinks!! pure copper..
-
I am not sure if there is a way to remove.. there was a different post about this trojan.. i would look it up in google or yahoo.. and see if you can find anything..
-
i doubt that the nic is bad.. have you installed all of there drivers? including chipset and lan.. that would make a huge difference! try pinging the router.. it should be less than 1ms..
-
they are nice! that is for sure... i dont know if I like them.. they made me feel like my head was in an airplane.. but you couldnt hear anything that is for sure.
-
that is to bad..
-
you should be able to get a little bit more.. normally it should be with in 100-500Kbps of the wired speed. Since you are international.. and Dlink doesnt sell the DSL line here in the states.. if you could post the specs of the router that would be a huge help..
-
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000365.htm take a look at that..
-
haha.. good for you! now see if you can tweak that connection!
-
The fact that it is dropping on a wired connection to the router means that something is up.. Like fallow said.. reset the router.. and power cycle it.. also make sure that you have the lastest drivers for your nic.

yeah that product line was bought back in November of 05 by symantec. I dont know the all of the buyout details.. but my guess would be that the "free" versions will not be receiving updates.. not 100% sure.. but that is how it normally works.

Who's your cellphone provider and how is the service?
Swimmer replied to pitbull481's topic in General Discussion
I have Cingular.. The service is 9.5/10. I have no problems on my v551 at all. Never drop a call! However, their customer service is -150000000000000/10.. They really suck! they need to sit down with the former ATT execs who were in charge of their customer service dept.. and train every single employee before they start answering calls. I have been the run around about 150,000 time trying to do some really simple.. And when their way doesnt work it is your fault! -

Experiences with 802.11b/g External/Auxilliary Antennae ?
Swimmer replied to WebUser's topic in General Discussion
I have not bought one of these.. however, I am looking to try and get my hands on http://www.superpass.com/SPFPG13.html to give it a test.. The only thing that you need to be careful of is the connection type. Linksys, if i remember correctly, uses like 2 or 3 different type of connection for their antennas. And i dont think that the dlink stuff will work.. But not 100% positive..
