So I got my new computer, for the life of me I am NOT able to get it to boot from dvd. Its the sabertooth 990fx R2. So if I set in the boot order, DVD first, Hard drive second, it wont boot, Set it to Hard drive first, boots fine. Something is not right.

So I got myself A custom build computer, With my eyesight no longer being the best, find it better to let someone else put it together for me. Well I place a order on Monday, and Waited, Called them on Wednesday to get a ruff idea when to expect delivery so I could be sure to be around,. No desire to have a expensive computer sitting outside for long. Did I mention, when I called a REAL person picked up the phone?? I even told the guy I was shocked, He laughed and said they get that all the time, they hate the automated stuff as well. Push 1 for this 2 for that, Wait, Mess up, get the wrong department, then play the game again. They tell me its ready, gonna be shipped Thursday, Few hours later I get a e mail saying problem, should get a bigger power supply. I wrote back, complained, explained, and kept it polite. I then as nice as I could told them what I thought they should do to make it right. They should put in the bigger power supply I needed, and next day ship it. I honestly never expect them to do anything but want more money, and be forced to wait even longer. To my shock I got a email reply Thursday Morning, The guys simply said, I make no excuses, We dropped the ball on this build. We are gonna put in the bigger power supply you wanted and get it done and shipped today, we will next day ship it, and we will pay for it all. So never fear to complain, but be nice, don't be afraid to tell them what you think they should do to make it right, but keep it reasonable. If you do that, you may come out happy and smelling like a rose.

I want to say Im sorry TRiRan, I think I was asking my question wrong. I just find this subject kind interesting. If I am understanding the information I am seeing. AMD socket set has extra pin holes, I am guessing for possible future upgrades. I do understand that its always best to put a AM3+ in a AM3+ motherboard. Just saw someone ask the same question as I have asked. Will the AM3+ FIT into a AM3 motherboard. Not saying its the best idea, Just will it fit?? Seen a few Claim to have put a AM3 into a AM2 Motherboard. I just always assumed the socket set on the motherboard has the exact amount of pin holes for the processor it was made for. So if the CPU has 932 pins, thats all the pin holes the Motherboard has on it. Make sense??

Sir, I think you MAY be mistaken. From what I am seeing,The AM3+ processor will fit into the AM3 motherboard. You will however need a bios update to better utilize the AM3+ processor. Saw a few posts of people claiming the AM3+ fit into the AM3 socket and all they needed was a bios update. Are they full of hot air??

I have become a fan of the guy that does this video I posted below. In fact its the same video I use when I see INTEL is a better gaming chip. He seems to have the same attitude I do about computers. Real world results so people can make a better informed decision. None of this INTEL or AMD is a better or Worse chip. If you get the chance, Watch some of his videos, good stuff. Not just reviews, but geekish type news as well. Myself, when building a computer, I consider long term value. Yes its a gamble. So I go all out on my motherboard, I do the same with my case. I don't cut corners. I get that case that offers the features I want, something that offers lots of room to upgrade. Same with motherboard. I want the one that will let me upgrade my CPU without changing the motherboard. Then I research. Youtube tec videos, Forums, even amazon reviews. Because IMHO, If I am gonna drop close to 2 grand into a tower, It better last me a LONG time.

So I am still waiting on delivery of my new computer. Be here shortly. So while posting on a couple of other websites, the one thing I have learned besides lots of mis information, Is the same old tired benchmark arguments. Its no wonder INTEL has such a large market share. If I were a new computer builder, and really not to much into the geek and research stuff, I would build a INTEL system. WOW!!

Oh TriRyan, I to was once like you. Geeked out 24/7. Loved looking at new computer parts. Loved working on computers, XP was great for my geekness. While I did complain lots, LOVED working on it. Fixing it, figuring out the problems. Building the next new computer was GREAT!! Keeping up with all the changes was so much fun. I used to tell the Girl Friend if only we could spend some quality time alone in a computer parts store, I would forever give up teasing her bout bringing her best girl friend by to say hello! Believe what you want sir, but as you get older, you find it more of a hassle. Sooner or later, Your brain will say enough of this geek stuff. I am talking about us guys that don't do it for living, but do it as a hobby. You soon learn, that its just a cycle of silliness, spending all that time and thoughts on the new changes coming. Only to realize in a year or so, that work becomes pointless because new changes are on the way. Kinda like swimming up stream. Just when you think your gaining ground, the current pushes you back to the same spot. I blame Old age. I also blame the slow death of the desktop PC. Lets face it, More and More people are moving away from desktops, While there will always be us die hard PC users, we are a dying breed. Everyone wants portability, They want the Ipads, the Iphones, Who carries a laptop any more?? Maybe people are right for a change. The desktop may die soon. Sales are horrid, Everyone wants a Ipad. Think we are seeing the same changes that Music did when it went from Cassette To CD. Time will tell.

Stick a fork in me i am DONE!!! LOL. Im am geeked out. Two weeks or more of research on this new build, Hours spent getting this computer ready for the Girlfriend, Backing everything up, Flaming Fan Boys of Both Intel and Amd on a different forum, Finding video to back up all my claims the both Intel and AMD are great chips and offer NO noticeable real world usage difference. Yes the AMD can game just as well as the Intel. Sick of seeing and hearing about pointless Benchmarks and Fan Boy articles. I am ready for a break. Now in a couple of days time to spend HOURS setting up the new build, Installing Windows 7 and TONS of updates and reboots, getting it just the way I want it,Backing it up, Then its time for a long vacation from my geek side. In time, Yea will overclock my AMD, Won't leave it there, but just wanna see how far I can get it to go. That is gonna be sometime down the road. Nice thing is the girlfriend complains about her computer, No problem, Will restore it just the way I gave it to her, and she can try again, Also nice to have Windows 7. I remember all the hours spent fixing and dealing with Windows XP. Now I just tell people, Install windows 7. End of most your problems. Yes, like the overclocking SOMETIME down the road, Will put linux on my new machine, I have a hard drive in my new build just for that purpose. So for now, I am DONE with the geek stuff. Once the new computer is set up, I dont wanna look at another youtube video or review of computer parts for a very long time. I am done debating and calling out the fan boys. I wanna sit back, enjoy my new computer, Play some games, watch some "art films" lol. Then in time overclock it, and tear into linux. Thanks for the help. Appreciate everything. The girlfriend did notice all the work, frustration of this new build, the countless hours spend so she can have my computer, Well she did give me a NICE thank you. Ok, I never noticed the AM3+. I simply missed the Plus sign. It does appear the fx8350 would fit into the current sabertooth 990 fx mother board I have the FX 6100 in. The build thats on the way has the sabertooth 990fx r2.0. I thought I needed that one for the New FX 8350. Enough to give you a head ace just thinking about. AMD does to a decent job of trying to keep there socket set the same. Has been the same since I believe 2009. Always a good Idea when replacing the cpu is double check it will fit in your motherboard. Something that REALLY is confusing me on the subject is this. Looking at this amazon page, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fx+8350 You will Notice, The AMD Fx 8350 is AM3 no plus sign. The AMD Fx 8150 is AM3+ It has the Plus sign. Is this simply a Mistake on Amazon's part?? Am I making sense?? So thte FX 8150 has one more pin than the fx 8350.

I am in the middle of a flame war with a few on another website, I need to know, Will the Latest FX 835O fit and work in the older AMD3 Motherboards? Or is the FX8350 a different socket set?? Yes I know, flaming and arguing on the internet is pointless, Just FAN BOYS of either AMD or INTEL tend to drive me crazy. Myself, I want the best value for the dollar, I could care less If it says INTEL or AMD or whatever. Someone using benchmarks to prove a point drives me crazy. I don't want benchmarks, I want real world proof. When someone shot off the whole Intel Is SUCH a better gaming chip, I snapped. No its not. So that kinda started the flame war, and its ongoing. Now I am laying the smack down on em how AMD offers a better long term value IMHO, and How Intel is changing there socket set way to much.

While its been some time ago. I wanna say TriRyan walked me through and taught me how to overclock my AMD fx6100. With my new build on the way, and loosing the information I had about overclocking that amd, I would kinda like to find it again. I will be using the same motherboard I had with the fx6100, Pretty much the same set up he helped me with. Thought it might be fun to see how far I can push my new chip. Can someone help me find it, Ive looked, No luck. Yes I know. Im a dork and someone will go right to it. Oh, if you wanna know what I went with........Well here ya go. Ok, So I have my computer built, Paid For and just waiting on it. Did some research into the latest Intel vs the Latest Amd. Just wanted to make sure I wanted to build another AMD. The amount of Wrong information I found in forums, and the whole INTEL is a way better gaming cpu rants I saw Drove me Crazy. All I saw was INTEL benchmarks SO much better so its a better chip. Well ok, How about in the real world?? How does it do ? I found the information out there is simply WRONG!! So I will post a video at the end of this mess to show you how well the AMD goes against the Intel. Oh did I get the flames. One guy said, the There is a noticeable difference with the INTEL just smoking the AMD. Ok, Well I posted My video to prove AMD is just as good as INTEL with gaming, Now you post a video showing me this "noticeable Difference" you claim. I dont want benchmarks, I want real world results. Both Chips, Same setup, Same Settings. Funny, He never responded. Why, if there was a noticeable difference between the two cpus youtube would be flooded with videos showing us. The intel Fan boys would just eat it up. Im NOT a amd fanboy, or Intel fan boy. I am a fanboy of getting the best value for my dollar. Both chips are nice, to many other factors besides cpu dictates computer performance. So from now on when I get the whole INTEL is SUCH a better chip, Well skip the benchmarks, Show me video proof of a real world noticeable difference. Bet thats one video I never find.

The two features that really sold me on this case, besides the fact have same brand mid tower, Was the handle to carry it, and the filters on both top and bottom that can be removed and cleaned.

Thanks Tri. Man I am SO burned out on shopping for computer parts. Trying to find what I want, at a Price I am willing to pay. Then reading reviews, checking youtube, bla bla bla. Man if it wasn't for the GF wanting her own desktop, I would simply laugh and walk away. So she is getting this computer, I am building a new computer, and I HOPE I don't have to go through this again for a very long long time. The one odd thing I am gonna do is throw in a small sata drive so I can play with Linux, without dealing with partitions. Make a nice back up in case the Solid State drive I am gonna use for windows would happen to die. Yea, I am for sure gonna go with a self contained Liquid cooling system. Have for sure decided on the AMD 8350. Will put in the same mother board as this one has which is the saber tooth 990fx. I have also decided to go with a Full Size case this time, last build was a mid tower. LOVE this case. So will get it.

I was looking into the Amd FX 8350. IMHO, Nice chip, good price. While looking at reviews and such, saw the same old tired debate of AMD Vs Intel. The short version. Looks like many are wiling to pay that extra 100 bucks or more for a chip that says intel on it so they can brag about benchmarks. I have yet to see ANY video of Intel being able to do something the similar AMD chip cant. Yea, the Intel may give you 10 fps more in a game, But if the game is running smooth, no lags and no stuttering, your never gonna notice the difference between the two. How they consider the AMD the lower end gaming machine is retarded. Yes the Intel will give you better benchmarks, In the real world you will never notice the difference. I look at both chips like a car. Ok, your intel car can go 150 miles, my AMD car can only do 130 miles a hour. Problem is, we are both on a road that only allows top speeds of 80 miles a hour. I paid 200 bucks for my car, you paid 300 bucks for your car, Now tell me that makes sense.

I was thinking of going with Antec K?HLER H2O 920. Always respected and trusted your advice. Do you think the Corsairs offers a better more cost efferent option??

Thats another big issue with the new Air coolers, Besides the things being so big, you need to worry about it blocking things like ram and whatever. IMHO, Think water coolers may be the next part to become almost mandatory. CPU'S are getting faster, and run pretty hot. The one I have now should last the Girl Friend quite awhile. Just need a second one around here that I can upgrade if I have to. So I have decided to water cool my new one. My old one it still has 8 gig of ram and fx 6100 and and really nice video card. So she can play her Sims and Face Book games. I can keep it cleaned out, and take care of it. Its way more computer than she will ever need. I am SO sick of shopping for parts!!!! Find what I want, then youtube it, then read some reviews. Esh, Glad I do that, some of the stuff I wanted. NOT a good Idea.

Getting ready to build a new computer. GF is taking my old one. After LOTS of research and thinking, I have decided on my components. The big issue is cooing the cpu. After looking at some of the options of a after market cpu air coolers, I have yet to find one that I really want to let hang off my mother board. Like this one for example. Cooler Master GeminII S524 Cooling Fan/Heatsink No way do I want something that huge hanging off my motherboard. Does anyone have any viable options?? This is what Im gonna go with. Wanna resize a movie. Tried virtual dub. That didn't work out to well. The movie video has a small picture, I have a 24 inch monitor. Thought you guys might know a better program.

I believe in people's right to own guns. I have known people that had to hunt to help feed there family. IMHO, people seem to forget its congress that has to pass the laws, even if they do pass it, and president signs it,the courts could over turn it. The sad reality is, the news is giving these sicko's there 15 min of fame. What bothers me the most, is there is some sick person just waiting to "become famous". There are just to many guns out there, many more show up every day, gun laws are like drug laws, all kinds of them, but the U.S. Dont have room for the bad guys now,

I am so sick of hearing the debate on new gun laws. Really, do people think new gun laws will have any effect??? All kinds of drug laws and that has done no good. IMHO, we need to put armed security in every school. Its the only way I think our kids and parents will feel secure. What really scares me is another colimbine type attack that may succeed. Did you know that that attack was a failed bombing attempt??? They placed propane bombs in various locations that would of taken many more lives. Thank goodness they were not smart enough to make them right, they never went off. If they had, Oh may the death toll would of been so much worse. We need to stop debating the gun issues, and start dealing with this new threat to our kids. Lets fix the issue instead of talking about it. Before its to late.
