While I may be wrong. I can see in a few more years The Mac having way more security issues. Same as the P C. They are in such a hurry to get the new O.S. out. I really think its gonna bite them in the bottom.

Mac OS X Lion is not an exception and we are hearing that login passwords that are stored in the system memory, even when the computer is in sleep mode or locked, are used to get possibly unauthorized access to a system. Passware said that a new version of its Passware Kit Forensic V11 can retrieve passwords from a Mac OS X Lion computer in a few minutes. The software uses the content that is stored in the system memory and reads it via Firewire. According to Passware, the password can easily be extracted regardless of password strength. "Long touted as a stable and secure operating system, Mac users are cautioned that the newest operating system has a potential vulnerability that enables password extraction from devices running Mac OS Lion," said Passware president Dmitry Sumin in a statement. The recommendation to protect yourself from this vulnerability is to simply turn your Mac off and not let it sit in sleep mode on your desk - which seems to be rather common sense. If there is critical and sensitive content on your Mac, you just don't let it sit running in a location where others can easily access it while you are away. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/passware-forensic-software-password-security,13138.html

IMHO, If your just using your PC for fun, Surfing, Watching movies playing games, Then Stay with the PC. Now if your doing much more, Using it for work or other things, I would say MAC. MACs are nice. I just dont think they are practical for everyday users. If your wanting away from Windows, I agree with the above. Go with a flavor or Linux.

Not sure what area you live in, But you could always keep an eye on your local Pawn Shop. Or you could walk into best buy "slip and fall" and Hey you are the new owner of a brand new T.V!!
-
Hey Mud. Maybe go to the store, Tell the guy what you want to spend. What you want to get. See what he has. Then go home. Google that bad boy. See what happens? Allot of times stores will match/beat internet prices. Just a thought.

Crud. Could not edit my last post. Any who. When I Did find the monitor I wanted. I did check reviews and such about it first. Checked out a few sites, Took in all the reviews, Then went with it. Oh if its a Expensive T.V. And you have kids, Google T.V. Armor. Got mine the second day I got this new T.V. Has saved the T.V. more than a few times. Flying toys. GF and the Vacum Cleaner. While I can never be sure the Toy or GF would of been the shot that got the screen, I like to think it would of. And my investment just paid for itself.

IMHO I always thought it was best to buy Stuff Like T.Vs and Monitors at a local store. Most store anymore will beat online deals. If there is a problem you just take it back to the store without the hassle of shipping it. Plus always a good Idea to support local business when you can.

I kinda said the same thing in the thread about monitors. Me thinks this would apply here as well. You can read,Do the Research All that good stuff. Head to the store, Look at them in person. If your luck is anything Like mine. No matter what you go with. A newer cheaper better model will come out 6 months after you buy this one.

Use Winamp myself. I just can not stress enough. Back up win amp settings.

I myself have always used ad muncher. I THINK I have it on gf laptop as well. I never even thought about disabling it and trying the link. So All I can say is I screwed up. So sorry. Won't be posing any more links. That really bugs me. I put it in one other forum. Deleted that post. So if who ever wants to delete this entire thread. Please do. Im Just sick about it.

WHAT the Heck? There was nothing to download. It was a simple web based game. I even tried the link after I posted it to make sure it went right to the page. Let me Try it again. I REPEAT, there should be NOTHING you need to download. http://us.akinator.com/. No idea what happened. Sorry about that. I would never post a link to download anything. Its just a very simple version of 20 questions. Again my apologies. I would never give you guys something to download. Or give you a web site that was unsafe. I am so baffled as to what happened. How very very Odd. Just google the word akinator. I use Chrome Browser. Wow this is strange.

Found this at another forum. Its so much fun. If you have kids, let them try it as well. Its kinda spooky how right it is most the time. <snip> What you do is think of someone famous. Then start the game. Answer the questions, and it guesses who your thinking of. Please make sure to mention there is a downloaded .exe file when you click on " play " , thanks After further investigation , the downloaded file called " whitesmokeinstaller.exe " , is a virus of some sort. You may want to check your system ninja , sorry googled whitesmokeinstaller_9128.exe , results > google link to whitesmokeinstaller_9128.exe

Sweet case. Just not sure if I myself would go with it. Its just to open. Unless it runs all the time, I think it would be a Huge dust magnet. As well, To open to moisture. I am NOT giving you crap. Just playing Devil's Advocate. Maybe Im to old. To cautious. Just IMHO I want more protection for the Inside of my computer. I would be so upset, To build it, Spend the cash, Then Moisture from either the air, or some other means would fry my mother board. Or as it sits, Dust build up. Not being sure the fans would remove the dust it collected while Idle. Again imho cpu's have about maxed out there speeds. ITs getting close. Sure you can add more cores, But the cpu can only run so fast until you have to get into liquid cooling. Just can not see it as cost effective for companies to make chips that require liquid cooling. Sure Major geeks would use them. But most average user's would avoid them. Again imho, While not sure what the max end of a cpu speed can be, Considering they are now branching off into multi core CPU's, It appears the Manufacture's are starting to shy away from upping the speeds. Much more speed and the Little Chips would get to hot. I THINK, I saw a cpu and 4 Ghz that needed Liquid Nitrogen to run.

With the LED Lit background, The monitor its self is super light. Really Thin. The stand I have is fine. No Wobble, You can wall mount it, But that is not included in the box. Guess you have to buy a kit of some type. The way the stand snaps into the monitor it makes it seem and feel like one piece. Will say it does not seem like there is allot of adjustment. Nice thing about staples. You get 12 days to return if your unhappy for any reason. I Was KINDA iffy still about it. Thats when the sales man told me about the 12 day return policy. So if I hated the Picture or any thing else. Return it. No Problem. This is the video that got me going down this path. There is some tilt to it. Mine does not have the wall mount option. Just looked at the back. Also my stand Snaps into the Monitor there is no screw needed. This Video Helps you better understand.

While Doing my research. It Did seem that staples had the best deal on them. I know you can go to staples, order it if you see it on the web site. Pay for it and they will ship it for free. If they dont have it in the store. I even checked New Egg and Amazon. Even Looked at wall mart web site. I think the thing that shocked me the most in comparing them in the store was How Little diffrence it seemed between the 21 compared to the 23 inch. Yet when comparing the 23 to the 24 the difference was huge. Depending on your budget IMHO I suggest hitting staples, Or Best Buy or someplace like that. Compare then, Staples had there's hooked up. Look at the LCD Compared to the LCD with the LED Background. You can read all the reviews and such, But seeing them in Person working really helps you make the right choice for your budget. They Way I did it was this way. I looked at staples web site. I knew I wanted the LCD with the LED Background. Looked at the customer Reviews on that web site. Then Hit google and Looked at several different reviews of the Product. Then Hit you tube and Seen what they had to offer. I was looking at the 23 inch acer. If there had not been such a noticeable difference between the 23 and 24, I would of went with the acer 23 inch. I Swear I dont work for staples. I was surprised they offered the best deals. Keep a eye on the web site, They offer sales and discounts from time to time. I just can not stress enough. Try to see them in person. Compare the looks and such. Do your research. Read the reviews on several web sites. Now with the acer 23 and 24 some said they were not happy with the buttons being hidden to adjust the image. They are not marked. When I installed the disk. I downloaded the Software for the Monitor. There is now a Icon in my toolbar, Click on that, and you can adjust your image that way. Oh and One last thing. There is a big Plastic button in the middle of the Monitor at the Bottom. Push it up and that turns on and off your monitor. Its right under the word acer. Had a bit of a time figuring that one out. Cause I am a guy and to lazy to read the instructions. The monitor like most others are self adjusting. So if you change something the monitor will adjust.

My Monitor Took a Major dump. Had a 20 inch L.C.D. While Looking around, I found that they have changed. The new ones have LED. Decided after TONS of research to go with this one. http://www.staples.com/Acer-24-S242HL-bid-Widescreen-LED-Monitor/product_922460?cmArea=FEATURED:SC3:CG4 About went with the 23 inch but in comparing them I just liked the 24 inch better. The difference was only 40 bucks. I am super happy with it. The Colors just Pop. Games look Killer. Movies are Sweet. Staples had the LED Monitors set up next to the LCD. You could sure tell a difference. The Monitor is a LCD with the LED lit background. They are razor Thin. If your looking to replace a monitor. Go with the LED Back ground. You will be happy you did.

I know you can disable windows 7 autotune. Not sure if thats a good idea or not ? In windows 7 with google chrome, kept getting a resolving host every time it started up. Got that fixed. Think I am gonna play with it and see if I can get it figured out. I keep a Ghost Image of both windows 7 and windows xp, Current so switching without the dual boot is pretty simple. Maybe if I can get it figured out, Will make a guide. There has to be a way to do it. Flipping media com, 2 years fighting, Nighttime I swear dial up would be faster, In the end think they oversold the line im on. Many others saying the same thing. Just interesting that dsl just smokes on windows xp, yet on windows 7 its so slow. May take me A month or two, But if it can be done, I will figure it out.
-
Well heck, Just switched to xp and my net speed is much faster. So how do I get the same speeds in Windows 7 I get in Xp ?
-
I finally got rid of medicom, and went with dsl, It is so much faster and more well behaved than my cable connection. 2 years of fighting them and I gave up. I remember Xp was tweaked the best for DSl, and not much more you could do for it, My question is, Is windows 7 the same way ?

Giving thought to updating my computer a bit. Thinking of jumping my Amd Phenoom 2 5500 Processor Up to a quad core. I have a M4A78-EM Ausus motherboard. Will Probally Jump the 4 Gig up to a 8 gig. So 2 questions. Can I jump this motherboard up to a quad core? I THINK?? I can but unsure. Can someone offer a NewEgg LInk to some 2 gig Sticks of ram that is decent and decent in price. I will need 4 of them. Right now Im using 4 sticks of 1 gig ram. It has to be dual channel. Probably make the jump in a month or two. If I can Jump up the processor, And stick more ram in the box I think I can hold off building a new computer for another year or two. Thanks all.

WOW!! Thats a blast from the past. I had no idea ANYONE still used Windows ME. To funny. I someday wanna see if I can get windows 3.1 on my computer. Then try windows 95 and Windows 98.

I would think with windows 2000 the biggest issue would be the drivers. I know they make generic Drivers for Xp and above, Not sure if they offer the same for windows 2000. Not sure if you know how to nlite your own disk, But that does pose a very good question. Can you Nlie Windows 2000, Do they make the generic drivers for it? How about the updates? I would think if you can get that sorted out, Putting a nilited version of windows 2000 would be kinda cool and sweet.

I think windows 8 is gonna be one tough sale. They got it close to right with windows 7, Xp is still the go to system. Think Many will always keep a copy of that around. Think many will let the ol Cloud pass them by.
