The settings in the quality of service is already the same with the tweaks I've seen here.

I also did coolbuster's 20 steps (thanks bro)...

miraculously it gave me a 400+ connection... for just a few minutes I guess... and now I always get values lower than 100.

I've been in front of the pc the whole day today just to figure it out.

Hope someone there can help me with this. Thanks a lot.

there are several factors you should consider on figuring out what's causing your slow connection speed.

1. malwares (virus & spywares)

2. firewall

3. programs running on startup

4. no tcpip patch (win xp sp 2-3)

5. the limit reservable bandwidth is disabled

try to work on them. we appreciate your updating us.

what's nice about ubuntu is that you will need anti-malware and firewall no more, right? so filtering is not an issue.

i can't see that u've attempted any test with ur smartbro connection this year...we were on a bad server...well in a bad data center...not a bad server...anyway new server now...new data center...

all these folks were probably thinking that they could somehow get the speeds that u get, thinking that u were testing with smartbro...

we're on a new server u should try testing again ...and show these folks what u get with ur smartbro connection...and then show what u get wth ur 3G thingy

the ISP 99.74 is my regular smartbro until april 15, 2008 while 18.241 is the 3G thingy right thereafter.

and oh lately the attached image is what i get during regular smartbro tests 

have you noticed password viewer.exe or pc-off.bat in your computer lately? they might be the culprits.

i refrained from speed testing thru my regular smartbro connection because everytime i do it, tmn resets. i don't know why its happening.

my smartbro speed goes a zoom zoom zoom yet tmn fails to give me a test result.

instead i opted to do speed tests thru my smart 3G phone and there's the result as afore-posted.

a range (approximate distance) of 5733 is far. your jitter of 6 is not even ideal (1-4) for a wireless connection, there's too much noise against a low RSSI (400).

the culprit is your distance. i bet you can't clearly see the base station from the rooftop, can you?

i already did cool buster's tweak. the one in his blog.. help.. i did it many times already... im a vista user. .  :cry:

please be informed that i did & tested the tweaks in XP and not in Vista. my apology but it will be a long time before i will upgrade to Vista and do some tweaks for smartbro users on Vista  (whispering) unless someone donates a cpu with Vista on it for tweaking purposes. (jk)

i have a friend who has an internet cafe like yours, with 8 units. what he did was to get 2 smartbro subscriptions. 4 units are connected to one smartbro thru a hub, same as the other 4. users can play WOW, RanOnline, RoseOnline, WarRock and FreeStyle altogether without lag.

wow! another useful software! but how can i use it? it's better maybe to discover it by myself. Thanks again coolbuster! I hope my folder option will be back...

please don't get me wrong. what i posted was "two canopy sm-two subscriptions-under one account" which means one account holder (1 subscriber) can avail and pay 2 subscriptions (or more i think as long as he can afford it). my neighbor friend has this kind of setup for his small internet shop. 

Actually I slightly changed the steps, instead of going to 'folder options' (becasue my folder option was deleted by a virus & I don't know how to fix it)

i have attached a very effective program to address that issue. it's named Remove Restrictions Tool (RRT). A tool to re-enable Ctrl+Alt+Del, Folder Options and Registry tools.
