I know my ISP has a shit route, I never said I didn't know why I got bad results here Seems it's only me though, the other RCN customers get much better here most of the time. I don't have a server, I just used a file that I found on ATi's website, used to update drivers.

Is this possible? I made one with a 6MB file, and I get much better results than the 2992 file here, and I was just wondering if it was possible to make those tests count in my archive as well. Maybe not, because I can see how people would abuse it or something. I get about 7200kb/s on the test I made, compared to the 3200 I get when I test with the largest file here. I'll show some exact results later.

My schools only have T1. I get 9mb/s.

Hahaha, I just got a slew of old PCs tonight to mess with. I jammed one of the fans in this computer. They are all like slot processors, and PII and Pentiums. It's nuts.

RCN is around 40 a month I think. I get these speeds. Your speed is good too, that's what I used to get.

Your post to me makes no sense. You upload, not download, the 1 megabyte faster, not the 97KB faster than the 579KB file. Larger test sizes usually yield more accurate results.

The other sites are better, I can hit about 5500 down at nyc.speakeas.net, and probably more, because I haven't had the time to test for awhile since I got my new speeds, and since I finally got them back today, I'll have to test more there a little later.

I went on a vacation a week ago, for three days, and came back to find my internet was the 4mb/s it was before I got upgraded. For about a week I was talking to a guy on another message board who works for RCN, and today he said he thinks he found something, so I took some more speed tests, and he did. I figured out that this is pretty much my real speed, because he gave me a link to a file that is 200MB, and located about 30 minutes away from me, so it eliminates distance as well as congestion, so I would be able to see my raw speed. I also found out that everyone around me with RCN has the same problems with the tests here, and being inaccurate. I thought it was just MY route to the site, but it really is RCN's whole route. I still get this result here. No big deal, because it's accurate for you guys, and I know my real speed anyway. :::.. There probably isn't much more speed lying around. What are your caps? If you are on a 4mb/s line, that is about as good as it will get. If you are on a higher cap, then let me know.

That's not dial up if you get those speeds. Unless you mean dialing out to the internet, but still having BB speeds on the download. I'm in the same boat. I download at 940+KB/s, and upload at 2.

Yeah, those speeds rule. I get almost 8mb/s down.

I ususally download iso images of linux stuff, but the servers have been too slow lately. I had Far Cry demo awhile back, it kicked ass.

What can I download? Something over 600MB would be nice.

Ping is still fine, and gaming is still fine. I can't get sued, they did it, not me

Actually, I have one, albeit a bad one still, but now I get about 11KB/s upload. I have no idea how, but I do. I seriously hope this doesn't change, because I shouldn't get this fast on either Oh, and here is another one.

Man, I woke up, heard they upgraded all of PA, took some tests and got the same speed. I got one test that was 5000kb/s, but I was let down. Then I actually downloaded some files, and now I'm happy as hell

I have tested every single download manager, and Internet Download Manager is still the best for most people.

Hmm, I'll have to check that out. That's a pretty stupid marketing ploy.
